Product description The Formatt 3 x 3" 82B Filter is a light balancing filter used to increase the color temperature slightly for a cooler tone. This blue filter absorbs the excessive yellow-red light from daylight in the morning.There is much flattering light to be found in the early morning and afternoon hours. With sunlight low on the horizon, the red-orange end of the spectrum becomes enhanced. With daylight balanced film, images shot in this light may prove to be a bit on the warm side. The photographer may desire this effect or choose to "cool" things down. An 82B has a greater "cooling" effect than an 82A. The 82 series of blue filters allows the photographer to keep skin tones somewhat normal by increasing the color temperature to a more daylight balanced level. Note: Whereas the 81 Series of filters creates a feeling of warmth, the 82 Series creates a feeling of coolness 82 Series Conversion Chart - 82A Increases temperature from 3000 to 3200K (1/3 stop)

- 82C Increases temperature from 2800 to 3200K (2/3 stop)
Absorbing Cell Technology - The secret to Formatt's consistency in filter design lies in its unique "Absorbing Cell Technology" (A.C.T.); this unique process allows color correct dyes to be applied to optically pure, wafer thin absorbing cells and offers a controllability that ensures the smoothest grad lines and consistent color across the whole filter surface.
- This process is revolutionary compared with conventional filter dying techniques by eliminating the need to directly coat the glass surface itself. The repeatable performance gained through A.C.T. ensures that at any time you have to swap like filters for like filters mid shoot, you can do so with confidence with no discernable differences in color or density.
- Each filter is guaranteed flatness to a maximum 2-wave value and comes with an individual reading from a laser interferometer. Every filter is carefully verified with a densitometer and spectrophotometer to ensure consistent and accurate transmission, before leaving the factory - the result is an absolute purity of image that eliminates any unwanted colorcast caused by conventional greenish soda-lime glass.
