Product description Hitech's 85 x 85/110mm Starter Filter Kit contains everything you need to get started with the Hitech system. Included in the kit is a 85mm modular holder together with two of the most commonly used filters; a 0.6 neutral density and and a 0.6 soft edge neutral density grad.
The 85mm modular holder is unique in that it has an aluminum backplate which stands it apart from other similar holders. The holder is completely versatile and allows for up to two filter slots to be fitted to the front to take 85mm filters. The holder comes pre-assembled with all 3 slots.
Neutral density, or ND, filters produce a grey neutral effect and are used to reduce light in photography, enabling more control over exposure and depth of field without affecting color or contrast. These 0.6 NDs reduce light by 2 stops, are clear in the bottom half of the filter with a gradual transition to the ND effect in the top half and are primarily used for light reduction in skylines of landscape shots. Soft edge grads have a smooth transition from clear to ND. One filter is 85mm wide but 110mm long so that it can be moved up and down in the holder to line up the graduation line easily with the horizon. - 85mm is a popular size for smaller consumer DSLR lenses and mirrorless cameras.
