Product description Designed for long-range observations from unstable viewing platforms, the Fraser Optics 14x40 Stedi-Eye Monolite-B Gyro-Stabilized Monocular uses gyro stabilization technology to correct up to 98% of image motion caused by hand tremor and platform motion. This is especially useful for law enforcement personnel and first responders observing from a marine vessel, moving vehicle, or helicopter. When the optical housing pitches and/or rolls, the gyro mechanism compensates for the motion by mechanically orienting the prisms in the opposite direction. This process of stabilization occurs in real time and corrects motion on the pitch and roll axes within ±8 degrees. To aid searchers, this Stedi-Eye comes equipped with an illuminated center-aiming reticle that is only viewable when the stabilization is activated. The objectives draw in enough light for use from dawn to dusk, while the high power is optimized for long-distance viewing. To ensure the brightest images possible, the optical system is fully multi-coated with magnesium fluoride (MgFI), which evenly passes light across the entire visual spectrum so colors are represented correctly with improved contrast and clarity. Ideal for scanning large swaths of territory, the Stedi-Eye is engineered with a wide apparent angle of view.To withstand the rigors of constant use in the elements, the chassis is 100% sealed to be waterproof and submersible—and if it goes overboard, it is also buoyant for easy retrieval. The entire chassis is covered in a slip-resistant neoprene cover and a hand strap is included to add further grip security. This model of the monocular is supplied with standard accessories plus a nylon pouch with shoulder strap and a hard foam-lined case. Note: Export of this device described herein is strictly prohibited without a valid export license issued by the U.S. Department of State office of Defense Trade Controls, as prescribed in the International Traffic in Arms Regulation (ITAR), Title 22, Code of Federal Regulation, Parts 120-130, and/or the U.S. Department of Commerce. For further information contact the Office of Defense Trade Control and/or the U.S. Department of Commerce. - Gyro Stabilization
- Gyro stabilization technology uses angular momentum generated by a gyro to compensate for movement of the optical housing. When the optical housing moves in one direction, the gyro mechanism moves in the opposite direction and reorients the prisms to stabilize the transmitted image. This stabilization technique happens in real time, as opposed to electronic stabilization, and corrects pitch and roll motion within 8 degrees. The Monolite is capable of correcting up to 98% of image motion caused by hand tremor and platform motion.
- Performance
- The 14x magnification is well suited for long-range viewing on the water, in the air, and on the road. Gyro stabilization ensures that transmitted images will be rock steady despite the hand tremor commonly visible through high-magnification optics. Impressive 4.3 arcsecond resolution and an 8-degree scan rate ensure that the Monolite is ready to handle a wide range of commercial and law enforcement applications.
- Anti-Reflective Coated Optics
- Fraser's proprietary composite optical coating minimizes unwanted reflections and maximizes light transmission through the optical channel. By adding multiple layers to each lens surface, engineers created a system that produces bright images with rich contrast.
