Product description The built-in dash cam in the Garmin DriveAssist 51 LMT-S Navigation System will make your trip safer (with Forward Collision and Lane Departure warnings) and more fun (you can make trip recap videos with the TraveLapse feature). Along with Garmin's detailed maps of North America, the DriveAssist will warn you about traffic ahead, and even help you find a place to park. The dash cam automatically continuously records your drive with optional in-vehicle audio recording, saves collision footage and records the time and location of an incident. It can also make it easier to get where you're going: Real Vision shows the camera view with a bright arrow pointing to your destination – no more squinting at hard-to-see house numbers. Included are numerous features to make driving easier and safer, including alerts for road hazards (or your own fatigue), easy-to-understand directions using landmarks and businesses, directions within complex locations like airports and mall parking lots, and comprehensive search. Sync a Bluetooth-enabled device, such as your smartphone, for hands-free calling and receiving smart notifications, text messages, and calendar reminders without taking your hands off the wheel. You can also get directions by talking instead of touching, thanks to its voice-activated navigation capability. The Incident Notification feature alerts designated friends or family should if you're involved in an accident. Along with map data, the DriveAssist is populated with TripAdvisor points of interest such as hotels, restaurants and attractions near your destination and along the way, and information from Foursquare on millions of local destinations. Active lane assist with voice prompts and junction view ensure that you are in the right lane of travel at tricky interchanges, while route shaping helps you pick the most efficient way to get where you're going. The system is compatible with Garmin smartwatches and BC 30 Wireless Backup Camera, both sold separately. - Dash Cam with Alerts
- The DriveAssist's dash cam issues visible and audible warnings when you're too close to the car in front of you or when you leave your lane, and automatically saves footage, time, and location data if you're involved in an accident. The Go feature alerts you if stopped traffic has begun to move, and the Real Vision view aids in finding locations.
- Driver Alerts
- You'll be alerted to sharp curves, speed limit changes, railroad crossings, animal crossings, and school zones, and will be warned if you end up going the wrong way on a one-way road, or if you've been driving for too long without a break. In jurisdictions where it is permitted, DriveAssist will warn you about red-light and speed cameras.
- Hands-Free Calling
- Synch a Bluetooth-enabled device, such as your smartphone, for hands-free calling and receive text messages and calendar reminders without taking your hands off the wheel. Customizable smart notifications appear on the navigation display.
- Incident Notifications
- Designate your chosen contact, and they will automatically receive a text message if you're involved in an accident. You can choose to cancel the message prompt before it sends. The text notification includes a map link to where the incident occurred.
- Live Traffic and Parking Info
- Pair the navigator with your compatible mobile device using the free Smartphone Link app, and you'll have traffic alerts, relevant re-routing suggestions, pricing for parking facilities, and availability trends for on-street public parking. The app also enables LiveTrack, which lets you share your location with family or friends.
- Real Directions
- Garmin's Real Directions feature uses recognizable landmarks, buildings, and intersections to let you know when and where to turn.
- Points of Interest
- The DriveAssist provides info from TripAdvisor on hotels, restaurants, and attractions at your destination and on your journey, along with Foursquare data on millions of restaurants, entertainment venues, shops and other points of interest.
- Smartwatch & Camera Compatibility
- Pair with compatible Garmin smartwatches for driver alerts on your wrist and compass guidance to find your car, and with Garmin's BC 30 Backup Camera for dramatically improved safety (smartwatches and backup camera sold separately).
