The Venture 30 Solar USB Recharging Kit from Goal Zero lets you pack in power for your smartphone, GPS unit, camera or other USB device, and replenish the power off the grid with solar energy. The kit comes with the Venture 30 Portable Battery Pack, which stores power for charging devices, and the Nomad 7 Solar Panel, which can collect enough energy from sunlight to fully recharge the battery pack in 16 hours or less. The battery pack can also be recharged with AC or DC power via USB; this method will fully charge it in 5 hours.The battery pack features integrated cables for phones and devices, so you don't have to worry about packing separate cords. It is rated IPX6 for water resistance, so rain won't do it any harm. Its 7800mAh, 3.6V battery can charge a tablet once, a smartphone up to three times, a GoPro camera five times and a headlamp as many as 10 times. Your devices will charge as quickly from the battery pack as they do when plugged into a wall outlet at home.The solar panel will fully recharge the battery pack in 8-16 hours. It puts out 7W of power, and you can chain multiple Nomad units together to increase wattage output for added versatility. You can use it to recharge the battery pack, or plug smaller USB devices directly into it for a recharge straight from the sun.

Nomad 7 Solar Panel (Black) The black Nomad 7 Solar Panel from Goal Zero is a portable and foldable solar panel that will directly charge small electronics like smart phones and GPS units, or Goal Zero battery packs. This unit puts out 7W of power, and you can chain multiple Nomad units together to increase wattage output for added versatility. The solar panel features a standard USB port for directly charging devices, and an 8mm port for power packs. A removable kickstand helps aim the panel for optimum energy production, and features a handy zippered pocket to stow the charging cables. The weather-resistant design has loops to secure it to surfaces like tents for catching optimal sunlight, or backpacks to catch a charge during a hike.

I bought the Venture 30 and the Nomad 7 together 6-7 years ago. Couple of things I am trying to figure out. I somehow, packed the Venture30 away and forgot where I put it. For 3-4 years. One day I found it once again, and tried to charge it. It took couple of days to charge of the wall outlet. But... it seems like the USB cable that wraps around the Venture, seems to not making a tight connection. I tried to use a longer cable with similar connectors. That too didn't seem to make tight connection. While charging if the Venture moves a bit, it wakes up with its blue lights coming on, and it takes awfully long time to charge. Secondly, how do I know when the Venture is fully charged, and ready to travel with me.
So, do I need a new cable? How much would it cost?
