Product description Work Laptops Thin at 1.2", weighing 6.62 lb, and built from magnesium aluminum, the 17.3" ZBook 17 G3 Mobile Workstation from HP provides users with desktop-like performance in a portable form factor that also includes scalability and configuration options for boosting system performance. This system is powered by a 2.9 GHz Intel Xeon E3-1535M v5 Quad-Core processor which allows you to run multiple applications simultaneously. If you need more power, the system can be overclocked to 3.8 GHz using Intel Turbo Boost 2.0 technology. The 16GB of 2133 MHz DDR4 ECC RAM helps to ensure smooth multitasking and also allows the computer to quickly access frequently-used files and programs. The 17.3" UWVA IPS anti-glare display features a Full HD 1920 x 1080 native resolution. It also features LED-backlighting, a 16:9 aspect ratio, 300 cd/m2 brightness, a 600:1 typical contrast ratio, a refresh rate of 60 Hz, and 128 ppi. The dedicated NVIDIA Quadro M4000M graphics card has 4GB of discrete GDDR5 RAM and delivers a sharp, clear picture. You'll also be able to output video to an external display at resolutions up to 5120 x 2880 using the system's HDMI 1.4, VGA, and dual Thunderbolt 3 ports.
For long term storage of your files, this ZBook 17 G3 is equipped with a 512GB Z Turbo Drive PCIe SSD that uses MLC-type NAND and an NVMe interface, as well as a 1TB 7200 rpm SATA hard drive, for a total storage capacity of 1.512TB. While the SSD may not have the larger storage capacity of the 1TB spinning hard drive, it contains no moving parts which helps it to be more resistant against bumps, drops, and other kinds of damage. SSDs also receive less wear and tear than traditional hard drives, as they don't have any read and write heads. Additionally, as this SSD connects via PCIe as compared to SATA, it is able to operate with even greater data transfer speeds. It provides sequential reads up to 1.17 GB/s and sequential writes up to 930 MB/s.
If you want to add external storage, optical drives, memory card readers, and more, the ZBook 17 G3 offers two Thunderbolt 3 and four USB 3.0 ports, with one of the USB 3.0 ports doubling as a charging port. Gigabit Ethernet and 802.11ac dual-band Wi-Fi are built-in for wired and wireless networking and Bluetooth 4.2 technology will also allow you to connect additional compatible peripherals. So that content from memory cards may be accessed, a built-in SD/SDHC/SDXC card reader supports UHS-II flash media and lets users download content from their digital camera. Other integrated features include a 720p webcam, dual-array microphones, stereo speakers with Bang & Olufsen HD audio, and a smart card reader.
The ZBook 17 G3 includes a 200W Slim Smart AC adapter that operates using 100-240 VAC at 47-63 Hz and an HP Long Life 6-cell / 96Wh Lithium-ion prismatic battery that lasts for up to 16.25 hours before recharging is required. Also included are Windows 7 Pro (64-bit) and Windows 10 Pro (64-bit) recovery media. While the installed operating system is Windows 7 Professional (64-bit), a Windows 10 Professional (64-bit) license is included at no additional cost.

- Thunderbolt 3 is a hardware interface that utilizes the reversible USB Type-C connector. Doubling the speed of its predecessor, Thunderbolt 3 features a maximum throughput of 40 Gb/s when used with compatible devices. The connector also transmits data via USB 3.1 at up to 10 Gb/s, and dual-bandwidth DisplayPort 1.2 allows you to connect up to two 4K displays simultaneously. Additionally, you can daisy chain up to six devices from a single Thunderbolt 3 port

- Up to 2 streams (eight lanes) of DisplayPort 1.2 are supported over a single Thunderbolt 3 port. Up to two 4K displays with 24/30-bit color depth at 60 Hz or one 5K display supported over a single Thunderbolt 3 port (requires an Intel certified Thunderbolt cable)
- DisplayPort 1.2 w/MST (Multi-stream Transport): Supports resolutions up to Full 4K, 24/30-bit color depth at 60 Hz, and WUXGA (1920 x 1200) monitors, 24/30-bit color depth at 120 Hz
- Multi-Display Support
- The ZBook 17 G3 supports multiple displays in several configurations. Using Thunderbolt 3, hybrid graphics, and the separately sold ZBook Dock, up to six independent displays are supported. If a system uses integrated graphics instead of hybrid, it will support up to three displays. Using Thunderbolt 3, hybrid graphics, and no ZBook Dock, up to four independent displays are supported. Using Thunderbolt 3, integrated graphics, and no ZBook Dock, up to three independent displays are supported. When using hybrid graphics and DisplayPort 1.2 Multi-stream Transport (MST) technology built into a display or hub, the ZBook 17 G3 will support up to six displays without a docking station
- USB 3.0 Ports
- This ZBook 17 G3 features four USB 3.0 ports that will allow you to connect external peripherals such as additional storage, optical drives, printers, memory card readers, and more. One of the USB 3.0 ports also doubles as an always-on charging port for compatible USB devices
- Up to 64GB of ECC Memory
- While this system natively includes 16GB of ECC RAM in a 1 x 16GB configuration, it can be upgraded to a maximum of 64GB when 16GB memory modules are used in each of the system's four 260-pin SO-DIMM slots. Error-correcting code memory (ECC memory) is a type of computer data storage that can detect and correct the most common kinds of internal data corruption. ECC memory is used in most computers where data corruption cannot be tolerated under any circumstances, such as for scientific or financial computing

- The HP 17.3" ZBook 17 G3 Mobile Workstation has four drive bays - two that support 2.5" / 7mm drives and two that support M.2 drives. As one of the 2.5" bays is used for the 1TB hard drive, there is one available 2.5" / 7mm drive bay
