| Subject: Toner cartridge may be feeding too much toner causing smearing of copies, both front and back | | Date: 17.08.2022 11:41:17 | Name: Kent Price | | I think my new toner cartridge may be defective. No problems with print quality for years. Then suddenly with new cartridge there is smearing of toner on both sides of a copy. On the left end of the cartridge facing it as it has been inserted, there are two white plastic parts. One looks to be an arm of some kind that lifts up and down. The other appears to be like a ball and socket device; the ball appears to have openings in it. I suspect it may be the toner feeder. Guessing here, but it may be that as the arm lifts up, it rotates the ball to apply toner to be dispensed and then closes as the arm comes back down. Thes two pieces are not connected so there is nothing to operate the ball. Can you explain how, if at all, those two pieces work together? Are they supposed to be connected in some fashion? If they are not, would you say I have a defective toner cartridge? If so, how do I get a refund or replacement? Thank you. | | Post reply |
