Product description Designed for the storage requirements of businesses needing unattended backup, disaster recovery, or archiving capabilities, the StoreEver MSL2024 Tape Library from HP offers several choices of storage capacities and technologies, including LTO-7, LTO-6, LTO-5, or LTO-4 Ultrium tape drives. Web-based remote management allows the tape library to be managed from across the room or across the globe, while the tape media both in and out of the library may be managed with a standard bar code reader, configurable mail slots, and dual 12-slot removable magazines. If a tape were lost or stolen, important business data may be protected from unauthorized access with AES 256-bit encryption.
The StoreEver MSL2024 uses a Mini-SAS connector and a SAS drive interface. It is compatible with LTO-7 Ultrium 15000, LTO-6 Ultrium 6250, LTO-5 3280, LTO-5 3000, LTO-4 Ultrium 1840, and LTO-4 Ultrium 1760 drive technology. It will support one drive when using Ultrium 1840 or 3280 and up to two drives when using Ultrium 1760, 3000, 6250, or 15000. When using 2.5:1 compression, up to 360TB can be stored using an LTO-7 cartridge and up to 150TB with an LTO-6. Using 2:1 compression, up to 72TB can be stored with an LTO-5 tape cartridge and up to 38.4TB with an LTO-4. Native storage capacities include up to 60TB using LTO-6, 36TB with LTO-5, and 19.2TB with LTO-4. Data transfer rates can be as high as 2.16TB per hour using two Ultrium 15000, 1.15TB per hour using two 6250, 504GB per hour using one 3280, 1TB per hour using two 3000, 432GB per hour using one 1840, and 576GB per hour using two 1760.
HP's StoreEver MSL2024 has a Mean Swap Between Failure (MSBF) rating of 2 million robot load/unload cycles and a Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) of 100,000 hours, which is based on 1 million MSBF. It is also equipped with a 10/100 Mbps Fast Ethernet port, a USB port, a 2U rackmount form factor, and a 168W power supply that operates using 100-240 VAC at 50-60 Hz and 2.5A. Included is an LTO-6 Ultrium 6250 6 Gb/s SAS tape drive, a 6' US power cord, an 8.2' PDU power cord, an Ethernet cable, and rack mount hardware. It is protected by a limited 1-year parts warranty. - Storage density up to 350TB (capacity based upon 2.5:1 compression using LTO-7 tape cartridges)
