Product description The 12TB LTO Ultrium 8 Data Cartridge from IBM doubles the storage capacity of the previous generation for long-term data preservation and rapid, reliable access to data. It offers a native capacity of 12TB and when 2.5:1 compression is utilized, a capacity of 30TB for even greater efficiency and performance. IBM's LTO 8 data cartridges help provide users with peace of mind, as well as manage data growth while sustaining rapid, reliable access to data. General Features - Increase Capacity and Performance
- Leverage 12TB native capacity and up to 30TB of compressed capacity for significantly greater efficiency and performance, and to reduce the number of cartridges, equipment, space, and labor.

- Facilitate remote, offline data storage for improved protection from natural or man-made threats that can impact online or on-site data storage with tape cartridge portability. IBM LTO 8 data cartridges are compatible with LTO Ultrium 8 tape drives, which offer device-level data encryption to ensure data privacy and reduce the risk of data corruption due to virus or sabotage.
- IBM Spectrum Archive Support / Enhance Data Access
- With IBM Spectrum Archive, the data files are indexed to facilitate search and retrieval using disk-like directory tree structures and drag-and-drop techniques to help improve the usability of tape solutions. IBM Spectrum Archive allows users and applications to directly retrieve files from tape rather than rely on proprietary, third-party applications, thereby enhancing data access and potentially reducing software licensing costs and dependencies.
