Product description The IK Multimedia Quad Lim - Multi-Band Limiter (Download) is a dynamic processor plug-in that features up to four selectable frequency bands with adjustable limiting per band. This enables you to process part of a signal's frequency spectrum without influencing the other sounds within the spectrum. Each limiting band features a fixed limiting ratio of ∞:1 as well as an adjustable threshold, attack time, release time, and gain level. The software also allows you to select the slope of the frequency crossovers to reduce the influence of artifacts between bands.
The device also includes a master brickwall limiter that will ensure the program material does not exceed 0 dBFS, regardless of the processing on the individual bands.
Often the limiter will be placed on a stereo master bus to control clipping within parts of the frequency spectrum of the program material, but it can also be used to control inconsistent dynamics in solo tracks such as vocals and bass.
In the user interface, a display indicates the amount of gain reduction per band as well as the overall left and right stereo output levels. The bands can be linked and each band can be soloed or bypassed to observe the effects of the compression. A mid side button enables mid-side limiting wherein the mid channel is the mono sum of the sound stage and the side channel is the difference between the left and right channels. A master bypass switch allows you to A/B the effect of the processing on the entire signal, and a reset switch can be used to restore the original settings.
The plug-in is fully compatible with native 32- and 64-bit applications on both Mac OS X (Universal Binary) and Windows (XP/Vista/7/8) computers. It supports VST, RTAS, AAX, and Audio Units plug-in formats. It can also be used with the T-RackS CS standalone application (sold separately). Table of Contents
