Product description Available for download, T-RackS Mic Room from IK Multimedia is modeling software that aims to put the sound of over 20 microphones—classics and contemporary models alike—into your digital arsenal. Essentially, this plug-in allows you to process signal from your existing mic through each of the emulations provided, thus modeling the tone and responsive behavior of other capsules.
For best results, it is recommended that you use this plug-in in conjunction with an audio track—one that uses material recorded in the physical, corporeal universe. Once the plug-in has been instantiated on any such track, using the software is as simple as selecting a source microphone from the list Mic Room provides, deciding which model of microphone you'd like to process the signal through, and choosing that model. At this point, you can play with stereo controls, input controls, the proximity effect control, and harmonic-content adjuster to further enhance your signal. This software is Mac and Windows compatible, and works in AU, VST, RTAS, and AAX formats. - Proximity-Effect Controls
- A control over the proximity effect emulates the frequency characteristics that accompany the distance between microphones and source objects. You can dial it in to make it sound as though the sound source is right next to the microphone, or you can dial it back for a more distant sound.
- Harmonic-Content Adjuster
- This control allows you to add saturation to the signal in order to simulate the harmonic signatures of a tube condenser microphone.
