Product description - Beholder Flex Handle Stabilizer | Ikan Tech Corner
The ikan DS2 Beholder Gimbal and Flex Handle Stabilizer Kit adds a two-handed flexing support to an DS2 Beholder gimbal. Both the gimbal and the Flex Handle Stabilizer come in their own case, with the full set of accessories as if purchased separately. The gimbal supports cameras weighing up to four pounds, so it is well-suited for use with a variety of mirrorless and DSLR cameras. The camera platform incorporates three locking levers that allow you to adjust and balance your camera on the gimbal without requiring tools.
The DS2 features a 32-bit controller with a 12-bit encoder to create smooth, accurate, and efficient stabilization for fast response and extended battery life. The built-in joystick allows you to reframe the shot electronically for smooth framing adjustment and allows you to select the gimbal's operating mode as well. Three follow modes: pan only, pan and tilt, and 3-axis (pan, tilt, and roll), allow you control over which axes to stabilize and which to allow follow movement on. A fourth mode, lock mode, will hold the camera locked onto one point, and in any of the gimbal's modes, you can reposition the camera manually, by holding it in place and have it hold that position. You can also invert the gimbal for low angle underslung shots. A built-in 3/8"-16 threaded mounting hole allows you to mount the gimbal on a tripod. The unit is powered by 3 x 18650 rechargeable batteries. Beholder DS2 - Designed for mirrorless and DSLR cameras, the Beholder DS2 is a 3-axis, brushless, motorized gimbal that features 360° of rotation in the yaw axis.
Four Operating Modes - Lock Mode - yaw, pitch, and roll axis work together to keep the camera pointed in one direction
- Pan-Follow Mode - follow pan axis and hold the tilt position steady.
- Follow Mode - both tilt and pan axes follow the movements of the operator.
- 3-Axis Follow Mode - no restrictions as it allows the camera to follow pan, tilt, and roll following the operator's movements.
- You can easily switch to inverted mode at any time by simply flipping the handle over the camera, and the four selectable modes still function in inverted mode.
Other Features - The built-in joystick allows you to make smooth framing adjustments within the shot regardless of the mode that you are in.
- A display screen on the back of the handle provides information on the battery life and operating mode.
- Two 1/4"-20 threaded mounting holes on the handle are suitable for mounting accessories.
- The batteries reside inside a caddy, which is inserted into the handle to power the gimbal. You can charge the batteries in the caddy by using a 2.5A/12.5W USB charger (not included). This charging method will only charge the batteries to 80% capacity, and ikan recommends removing the batteries from the caddy and using a dedicated charger such as the ikan ICH-SC4 to full charge the batteries.
- The USB port on the handle is for firmware updates. Please note that it cannot be used to charge the batteries or power accessories.
Flex Handle Stabilizer - Based on a mechanical design, using no motors, and requiring no batteries to operate, it complements the Beholder gimbal by providing stabilization in a fourth axis.
- The Flex Handle works to reduce vertical motions introduced into your shot by walking or running during a take.
- The spring tension is adjustable to support gimbal plus camera loads from 1.8 to 15.8 pounds. This enables you to adjust the amount of tension required to match the needs of the shot.
- The unit breaks down to pack into its case, and is easily reassembled. The handgrips mount using a rosette system that allows you to attach the handles in a variety of positions.
