Product description Featuring a clean industrial design that is lightweight and promotes passive cooling, the Lightstar 2000-Watt Tungsten Fresnel Light from ikan is a powerful lighting instrument. It incorporates a 6.8" temperature resistant Fresnel lens that throws a hard tungsten-balanced light, and it features an 11° to 55° spot/flood adjustment. The worm-drive focusing mechanism employed by the fixture is reliable and well established.
The aluminum housing minimizes the weight of the fixture, while helping to dissipate heat. The fixture features a swing-away front that allows access to the inside for replacing the bulb (bulb not included), and the bulb socket incorporates a locking clamp. A combo baby-pin receiver/junior-pin allows you to mount the fixture on top of a sturdy stand. The yoke features a cord wrap post and cord for coiling the attached power cord on the yoke, and the fixture includes a 4-leaf barndoor setup that you can rotate to adjust your spill control. - Borosilicate Fresnel Lens
- The fixture incorporates a 6.8" temperature-resistant borosilicate Fresnel lens. The Fresnel lens allows the light to be more efficient and provides better control of the light than an open-face fixture.
- Hard/Soft Light
- The fixture's lens softens the light emitted by the bulb (bulb not included), enlarging the point-source nature of the bulb's filament. However, the light emitted by the fixture is still considered hard, just not as harsh in appearance as the light from a bare bulb. You can add diffusion to the fixture to soften the light further, or use compatible soft boxes (not included), or bounce the light for a large soft beam source.
- Locking Bulb Socket
- The socket incorporates a locking clamp that makes excellent contact and avoids the problem that some spring-loaded sockets suffer when exposed to the heat of this size light. The heat from the tungsten lamp may cause spring-loaded sockets to weaken, causing poor contact and reduced lamp life. The socket's locking clamp helps prevent this problem.
- Underslinging
- Removing the barndoors allows you to position the yoke above the fixture, so that you can undersling the fixture for alternate mounting possibilities, remember to replace the barndoors after you have mounted the light.
- Mounting
- The fixture features a combo baby-pin receiver / junior-pin. This allows you to mount the fixture on a sturdy stand with a baby pin or onto a variety of 2K stands. Likewise mounting in a grid is possible with either a pipe clamp with a baby-pin or a junior receiver.
- Barndoor Safety
- A spring-loaded safety minimizes the chance that the barndoors (or optional scrims) will fall out of the fixture.
