Product description - VX9i and VX9w 9" Field Monitors with Native 1080P
The Ikan VX9W-S 9" 3G-SDI/HDMI Field Monitor with Scopes and L-Series Battery Plate is a professional field production monitor for camcorders and DSLR cameras. The VX9W-S features an interchangeable battery plate system, and includes an L-Series type battery plate plus a variety of digital and analog inputs, including HDMI and SD/HD/3G-SDI. The 450 cd/m² maximum brightness, combined with a 900:1 contrast ratio, provide a clear image even when shooting exteriors. A sun hood is included with the monitor.The 1920 x 1200 native resolution monitor offers a wealth of features that professionals require for critical focusing tasks and setting proper exposure. With loop-through outputs for the HD/SD-SDI, analog component, composite, and S-Video inputs, the VX9W-S is a highly compatible component in a video system. You can select to loop through a clean image, or output with the scopes overlaid. Additionally, the monitor will cross-convert from SDI to HDMI and HDMI to SDI. A built-in tally connector allows the monitor to display tally information. The monitor's body is made from aluminum for a balance between durability and weight, and the screen is protected by Gorilla Glass; this enables the monitor to withstand the rigors of the production day. Optional battery plates for a wide variety of DV-style batteries are available (not included), and the 100mm VESA mounting pattern enables mounting of professional battery adapter plates (D-Tap power cord required). - Mounting
- Four 1/4"-20 threaded mounting holes, one on the top, bottom, and each side, are incorporated into the monitor. An included desktop stand attaches to the monitor, allowing it to sit on a desk.
- Cross Conversion
- The VX9W-S cross converts input signals from the 3G/HD-SDI and HDMI inputs to the outputs. Both the 3G/HD-SDI and HDMI outputs are always active, so you have one signal in and two outputs. This allows you to use the VX9W-S as a distribution hub for integrating into either an HDMI or SDI system.
- Waveform
- The waveform displays the luminance value of your video signal on a scale from 0 to 1 volt. Any portion of your signal above 1 volt will clip when shown on an SD display.
- RGB Parade
- Like the waveform monitor, RGB parade shows the three color components of your video next to each other on a 0 to 100 IRE scale.
- Vectorscope
- The vectorscope feature helps set and verify skin tones and monitor white balance. The vectorscope function also verifies and checks the overall tint and hue of an image.
- Histogram
- The histogram provides a graphic depiction of what the percentage of pixels in your image are at each level between black and white. This provides you exposure information so you can objectively judge how much of your image is clipping, falling into the shadows, or being captured faithfully.
- Peaking
- Peaking is a real-time focus assist tool that superimposes pulsing red lines over the image area with the most contrast, and therefore most in focus. This makes it easier to confirm if the subjects are in focus.
- False Color
- The false color feature provides under/over luminance warning by presenting the image as a series of color values representing exposure.
- Clip Guides
- Set the upper IRE limit on the monitor and any part of the frame that is brighter than the set limit will flash a vivid purple. This feature is only available when viewing images via the HDMI input.
- DSLR Scaling
- The DSLR scaling function enables users to expand their DSLR camera's HDMI video signal to fill the monitor's screen if they wish. Users may choose from one of four scaling options: Normal, 3:2, 16:9, or Full-Screen—convenience made simple. This feature is only available when viewing images via the HDMI input.
- Zoom
- You can zoom in on the picture in the monitor.
- Tally
- Incorporating a tally connector and three tally lights, the monitor fits well into a switched multi-camera production. You can access the tally connector pin key by removing the interchangeable battery plate.
