Product description You can capture images and video at depths as great as 200' with your Canon PowerShot A2500 digital camera, thanks to this Underwater Housing from Ikelite. The enclosure's mechanical controls provide access to all camera functions except for the help button. Made for durability, the housing is constructed by hand in the USA from corrosion-resistant polycarbonate, which is clear to allow you to monitor the O-ring seal and maintain a full view of the camera. The built-in, flat glass lens port accepts optional, external wide-angle and macro accessory lenses to enhance your view and images beneath the surface. This housing enables the use of the A2500's built-in flash, but it is highly recommended that you expand your system by adding an optional, external strobe. The AF35 AutoFlash is triggered as a slave by the firing of the camera's built-in flash, and replicates TTL exposure. It features a flex arm and mounts onto the grip handle of an optional tray. Additionally, the housing comes bundled with a diffuser to soften the light of the camera's built-in flash, and a deflector to redirect it towards an external strobe. - Waterproofing
-
- Features a depth rating of 200'
- Controls and Handling
-
- Provides access to all camera functions except for the help button via mechanical controls, including push-buttons and a knurled knob
- Enables the use of the camera's built-in flash
- All important camera functions are at your fingertips
- Slightly positive, nearly neutral buoyancy in fresh water
- Attaching an optional single or dual-handle tray will afford improved handling and balance, while offering connection points for arms that can hold strobes or video lights
- Construction Details
-
- Designed, built by hand, and tested in the USA
- Made from corrosion-resistant polycarbonate, which is clear to allow you to monitor the O-ring seal and maintain a full view of the camera
- Lens Port
-
- Built-in, flat glass port accommodates and protects the camera's lens
- Accepts optional, external, 46mm threaded wide-angle and macro accessory lenses
- Wide-angles provide increased field of view, while macros give you better clarity and detail in close-ups
- Both types of lenses will enable you to get closer to your subjects, cutting down on the amount of water between you and them to reduce distortion
- Slight vignetting (shading in corners) may be present when using an external wide lens
- W-30 wide-angle, optical glass lens offers 0.59x magnification, 4 elements in 4 groups, and an aluminum alloy body. Can be easily removed and replaced underwater
- Optional macro lenses can be attached easily without adapters, and 67mm threaded macros and wide-angles are usable via the optional 9306.81 adapter
- Attach bayonet lenses with the optional 9306.79 adapter
- Port accepts optional 6441.32 and 6441.72 color-correction filters for blue and green water, respectively, to help restore hues that get absorbed underwater
- External Strobe Use
-
- As a built-in flash is generally only effective within a very short distance of your subject, a more powerful external strobe is highly recommended
- External flash will provide greater illumination, color accuracy, and vibrancy, and will virtually eliminate backscatter, glare, and hard shadows
- The optional AF35 AutoFlash external strobe is triggered as a wireless slave by the firing of the camera's built-in flash
- It automatically varies its own power to replicate TTL exposure, and provides adjustable exposure in 10 increments in this mode
- Additionally, the strobe offers seven levels of manual power in 1/2-step increments
- AF35 also features a flex arm and mounts onto the grip handle of an optional tray
- The housing comes bundled with a diffuser to soften the light of the camera's built-in flash, and a deflector to redirect it towards an external strobe
