Product description

• Ikelite Underwater Housing with TTL Circuitry for Canon PowerShot G3 X Capture images and video at depths up to 200' beneath the surface with Ikelite's Underwater Housing with TTL Circuitry for the Canon PowerShot G3 X Digital Camera. Built-in, proprietary circuitry and an Ikelite bulkhead connector allow for TTL exposure with optional, external Ikelite DS Substrobes. Non-Ikelite strobes are compatible in manual mode. Dual fiber-optic cable ports built into the housing provide an alternate method for strobe attachment.
  
  Ergonomic mechanical controls, including push-buttons, knurled knobs/dials, and a lever, afford access to all camera functions except for the framing assist-seek button, manual focus button, zoom lever, and front control ring. Built for durability, the enclosure is made in the USA from a corrosion-resistant ABS and polycarbonate blend, which is white/light gray on the front, sides, top, and bottom but clear in the back to allow you to monitor the O-ring seal and rear camera controls.
  
  The housing ships with a flat lens port designed for use with the camera's lens at its widest 24mm focal length. Since the flat front element magnifies the image and reduces the effective angle of coverage to a degree, the optional WD-3 Wide Angle Dome is a recommended add-on. As an alternative, the housing accepts the optional 135mm Macro Port for use with the 100-135mm telephoto focal lengths of the camera's lens.
  Construction Details
  • • Features a depth rating of 200'
    • Close two double-passivated, stainless steel locking lid snaps to see o-ring form a watertight seal
    • Constructed by hand in USA from corrosion-resistant ABS, polycarbonate, and acetyl plastic blend
    • Off-white with a touch of light gray on front, sides, top, and bottom, but clear in back to allow you to monitor O-ring seal and rear camera controls
    • Off-white/light gray color reflects sunlight to keep camera cool when shooting at or above water's surface, and also offers better contrast for improved viewing of camera, LCD, and O-ring seal compared to a completely clear housing
    • Design eliminates need for O-ring groove or channel that can trap sand, dirt, or debris, while also preventing accidental twisting or stretching of O-ring
    • Slightly negative buoyancy in fresh water
    • Front-loading camera mounting system makes installation and removal a breeze
    • Camera-mounting plate allows easy access to battery and memory card, and has standard 1/4"-20 mounting point for attachment to optional tripod topside
  Strobe Connection and Operation
  • • Housing provides direct electrical connection to camera's external hot shoe
    • Integrated circuitry and bulkhead sync cord connector enable TTL exposure with optional, external Ikelite DS Substrobes, which require sync cords
    • Circuit has been fine-tuned to PowerShot G3 X's flash protocol for most accurate exposure possible
    • Circuit powered by strobe, so there's no maintenance required and no batteries to change
    • Exposure compensation in TTL mode supported via camera's built-in control
    • SEA&SEA, INON, and Nikonos strobes may be used with the required sync cords in manual exposure modes only, but will still benefit from improved battery life and faster recycle times
    • Threaded bulkhead connector prevents accidental sync cord detachment during use
    • Bulkhead connection has been moved to top of housing to keep cords out of your way and reduce strain on ends
    • Dual fiber-optic ports built into housing provide an alternate method for strobe attachment using optional cables from most major manufacturers
    • Camera's built-in flash is suitable for firing an external strobe via fiber-optic connection, but not for lighting a photo underwater
    • TTL method increases flash speed and conserves battery life by not requiring camera's built-in flash to fire
    • To preserve natural colors of subjects and environments in images, try to stay within arm's reach of what you're shooting. The further away you go, the more light is absorbed by water--which acts like a big blue/green filter
  Controls and Handling
  • • Ergonomic mechanical controls, including push-buttons, knurled knobs/dials, and a lever, afford access to all camera functions except framing assist-seek button, manual focus button, zoom lever, and front control ring
    • Camera lens cannot zoom inside housing (see lens port info below)
    • Controls are large enough to be operated easily while wearing thick gloves
    • Whenever possible, controls located in same configuration as they are on camera to replicate muscle memory and familiarity you've developed with camera
    • Control symbols laser-engraved into back of housing won't peel off or fade with time
    • Camera's large, bright LCD screen can be viewed edge-to-edge through back of housing
    • Two 1/4"-20 threaded mounting points for connection of optional tray with handles, which provides additional balance/stability and attachment points for optional lighting arms
  Lens Port System
  • • Wide-angle port with flat glass front element for use at 24mm focal length is included
    • 3.0" / 76 mm diameter
    • 67mm thread diameter for optional conversion lenses and filters
    • Optional, lightweight, add-on WD-3 Wide Angle Dome recommended to restore full coverage, because included port is flat and magnifies image--thereby reducing effective angle of view
    • WD-3 provides edge-to-edge sharpness without vignetting, and can be removed and replaced underwater
    • INON UWL-H100 is another wide-angle option, producing very little vignetting and high degree of clarity
    • Optional 135mm Macro Port, available as alternative to included port, is designed for use at 100-135mm telephoto focal lengths for improved close-up shots
    • Macro Port can be used with digital zoom function of camera to increase magnification even more
    • Optional 3.0" color-correction filters can be press-fit onto front of port to restore hues that get absorbed by water, which acts as a big blue/green filter. Available for both tropical blue water and green water
    • Filter reduces amount of light that reaches camera sensor, so they're recommended for use in sunny conditions at depths no greater than 80'

• Canon PowerShot G3 X Digital Camera Reach out and capture distant scenes and subjects without compromise thanks to the large 20.2-megapixel 1.0" High-Sensitivity CMOS sensor and 25x optical zoom lens present on the PowerShot G3 X Digital Camera from Canon. The Canon lens offers a fast maximum aperture range of f/2.8-5.6 for operation in a range of conditions while the zoom range extends from a wide angle 24mm equivalent to a super telephoto 600mm equivalent. Also, operating at odd angles, or when taking a selfie, is benefitted by the inclusion of a 3.2" 1.62m-dot multi-angle tilting touchscreen LCD.
  
  When combining the High-Sensitivity Sensor with the DIGIC 6 processor, the Canon HS System is created, providing excellent low-light performance up to ISO 12,800 as well as a plethora of other capabilities. Continuous shooting at up to 5.9 fps is possible with no buffer time to slow you down, and the High-Speed AF System will lock focus in as fast as 0.14 seconds. Focusing is also accurate through the implementation of 31 points across the frame. Another feature of this combo is Full HD video recording at up to 60p and the ability to output the video live over an HDMI cable.
  
  Body design is critical when it comes to compact long zoom cameras, and the G3 X delivers with multiple physical control points. A continuous ring is available on the lens barrel while an exposure compensation dial, mode dial, front dial, and controller wheel are also present to make adjustments. Additionally, it has built-in Wi-Fi connectivity with NFC (Near Field Communication) for direct connection with smartphones, tablets, and the CS100 Connect Station.
  20.2MP High-Sensitivity CMOS Sensor and DIGIC 6 Image Processor
  • The 20.2-megapixel High-Sensitivity 1" CMOS sensor and DIGIC 6 image processor work in concert to produce high resolution still imagery and Full HD video recording with notable low-light quality and sensitivity to ISO 12,800. The combination of these two technologies creates the Canon HS SYSTEM, which provides effective low-light sensitivity with minimal noise and enhanced clarity to truly benefit impressive image making in dimly-lit situations. The processor also contributes to overall speed throughout the camera, including High-Speed AF, Full HD 1080p video recording at 60 fps, and a full-resolution continuous shooting rate of 5.9 fps with no buffer limit.
    
    The redeveloped sensor and processor also combine to enable RAW imaging with 14-bit signal processing, the same used in Canon's EOS DSLRs, to provide high image quality with expanded post-processing capabilities.
  Canon 25x Optical Zoom Lens
  • With a wide 24-600mm equivalent focal length, the G3 X can capture wide vistas and distant subjects without issue. It has a bright f/2.8-5.6 maximum aperture range that will benefit capture in low-light conditions. Also, Intelligent Image Stabilization is built-in to ensure sharp imagery during long shutter speeds and telephoto focal lengths.
  Full HD 1080p Video Recording
  • Record Full HD 1920 x 1080p video at up to 60 fps with the G3 X. Advanced features include an external microphone, a headphone jack, and manual controls during recording. This all works together for capturing brilliant images in a wide variety of shooting conditions. Also, it has HDMI output for quick playback on an HDTV or recording using an external device.
  High-Speed AF System & Continuous Shooting
  • Lock focus in just 0.14 seconds with the High-Speed AF System. Thirty-one AF points ensure sharp imagery throughout the frame. When combined with the fast 5.9 fps continuous shooting rate, which has no buffer time, users can be sure they capture the decisive moment.
  3.2" 1.62m-Dot Tilting Touchscreen LCD
  • Take selfies or work at odd angles with the multi-angle capacitive 3.2" touchscreen LCD on the rear of the G3 X. This screen also has a resolution of 1.62m-dots which display sharp, clear imagery for video or composition.
  Physical Controls & Design
  • With a physical control ring on the lens, an exposure compensation dial, mode dial, front dial, and controller wheel, photographers looking for tactile operation will be very satisfied. This provides users fast, intuitive access to commonly adjusted settings as well as the ability to dial in certain movements through muscle memory. The body is also compact while still featuring a contoured grip and a long zoom range.
  Built-In Wi-Fi Connectivity with NFC
  • Built-in Wi-Fi connectivity enables seamless and instant transferring of photos and videos to mobile devices, home computers, and to select social networking sites. Linking Android devices to the camera is aided through the incorporation of NFC, which facilitates connection simply by tapping the two devices. A dedicated Mobile Device Connect Button is available too, to further establish a simplified means for linking both iOS and Android devices. Additionally, Automatic Switching via the Image Sync function works to automatically sync images with any discovered and linked PC within a designated network or, alternatively, images are temporarily sent to the CANON iMAGE GATEWAY for later transferring.
    
    When connected, the mobile device can also be used to remotely control and release the camera's shutter, self-timer, flash, and zoom from a distance, as well as display a live view image on the linked device's screen. This connectivity also enables compatibility with the CS100 Connect Station for transferring files for backup and remote access.
