Product description Capture images and Full HD video at 200' beneath the surface with your Olympus OM-D E-M5 Mark II Mirrorless Micro Four Thirds Digital Camera, thanks to this Ikelite Underwater Housing. It has built-in, proprietary circuitry and an Ikelite bulkhead strobe connector, allowing for TTL exposure with optional, external Ikelite DS Substrobes attached via sync cord. Non-Ikelite strobes are compatible in manual mode. Mechanical controls afford access to all important camera functions.
The housing includes an aluminum mounting tray with a quick-release handle, which improves balance and gives you an attachment point for an optional lighting arm. Built for durability, the enclosure is constructed from corrosion-resistant polycarbonate, which is clear to allow you to monitor the O-ring seal and maintain a full view of the camera. It is designed, made by hand, and tested in the USA.
The housing is shipped without a required lens port, and accepts one of several interchangeable ports for various lenses. For compatibility, see Port Chart. - Construction Details
-
- Depth rating: 200'
- Made from corrosion-resistant polycarbonate, which is clear to allow you to monitor O-ring seal and maintain a full view of camera
- Designed, made by hand, and tested in the USA
- Made as compact as possible to minimize bulk, strain, and drag in water
- Strobe Connection and Operation
-
- Built-in, proprietary circuitry and an Ikelite bulkhead strobe connector enable TTL exposure with optional, external Ikelite DS Substrobes attached via sync cord
- Non-Ikelite strobes are compatible in manual mode
- In order to keep housing as compact as possible, attachment of on-camera flash is not possible--but sync cord connection makes use of camera's flash unnecessary
- By not requiring camera's flash to fire, sync connection eliminates shutter lag caused by camera's flash recycling and conserves battery life
- Heat build-up inside housing is reduced, as well, since camera's flash remains inactive
- Sync cord method also eliminates problems of signal interference, inconsistent exposure/weak transmission, and false triggering by other light sources
- Sync cords available for most popular strobes from Ikelite, Sea & Sea, Inon, and Nikonos
- Strobe Compatibility
-
- Ikelite DS series substrobes: DS50 (above serial number 70000), DS51, DS125 (above serial number 5000), DS160, DS161, DS200 (above serial number 7163)
- Third-party strobes in manual mode only
- Controls, Handling, and Operation
-
- Mechanical controls, including push-buttons, knurled dials, and a lever, afford access to all camera functions except rear touch screen, Fn1 button, mode dial lock, diopter adjustment dial, and external flash connector
- Controls are placed right at your fingertips
- Symbols are laser-engraved into back of housing so as not to peel off or fade, even through years of use
- Camera's large, bright LCD monitor is viewable edge-to-edge through back of housing
- Built-in magnifying viewfinder includes special optics to provide clear view of camera's EVF when wearing a dive mask
- Compatible with Ikelite's optional Straight and 45° Magnified Viewfinders
- When above the surface, you can use the camera's Wi-Fi connectivity to transfer images while camera is still in housing
- Supplied with aluminum mounting tray with a quick-release handle, which improves balance and gives you an attachment point for an optional lighting arm
- Handle is curved slightly to fit natural curvature of your hand for comfort
- Tray and handle can be removed easily for storage or travel
- Optional Tray with Dual Handles can further increase ease of use while providing a connection point for an additional flash or video light
- Lens Port
-
- Shipped without a required lens port
- Accepts one of several interchangeable ports for various lenses
- For compatibility, see Port Chart linked above
- Each port simply slides on and is secured via three thumb screws
