Product description Connect a variety of Thunderbolt 2, USB 3.1 Gen 1, USB 2.0, eSATA, HDMI, Mini DisplayPort, Gigabit Ethernet, and optical audio peripherals to your Mac system using the Thunderbolt 2 KVM Docking Station from IOGEAR. This dock contains 2 x Thunderbolt 2 (20 Gb/s) ports, 3 x USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A ports (5 Gb/s) ports, 2 x USB 2.0 Type-A ports (480 Mb/s), 1 x eSATA port, 1 x HDMI port, 1 x Mini DisplayPort (via Thunderbolt 2), 1 x Gigabit Ethernet port, and optical audio line-in and line-out jacks. All in all, you'll be able to connect up to 10 devices and peripherals directly to this dock.
In addition to connecting peripherals to your system, this dock can also expand your system's device connectivity beyond its native limits. For example, its Thunderbolt 2 ports allow the daisy-chaining of up to five additional Thunderbolt devices, including a Thunderbolt display, and its HDMI and Mini DisplayPort protocols can support dual displays at Full HD (1920 x 1080) and UHD 4K (3840 x 2160) resolutions. Each Thunderbolt 2 port supports bi-directional transfer speeds of up to 20 Gb/s, which is also backwards compatible with Thunderbolt technology at speeds up to 10 Gb/s. When used with an adapter, this dock can also support Thunderbolt 3 peripherals, although they will operate at Thunderbolt 2 speeds.
The Thunderbolt 2 KVM Docking Station is compatible with the MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, Mac mini, iMac, and Mac Pro, as well as other Thunderbolt 2-equipped systems. It operates using an included 12V / 7.5A power adapter and also includes a 3.3' / 1.0m Thunderbolt 2 cable and a base stand. General Features - Compatible with Thunderbolt 3 computers via a Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 2 Adapter.
- Share your peripherals and Thunderbolt 2 devices between two computers.
- Supports up to UHD 4K (3840 x 2160) resolution on both HDMI and Thunderbolt 2 ports. The maximum resolution is dependent on the capability of the video display and its computer source.
- Supports dual displays with HDMI and Thunderbolt 2 monitors. The dual display feature is only available on HDMI and Thunderbolt 2 connections. If connecting to an external display via a Mini DisplayPort cable, then only one external display will work at a time.
- Daisy-chain up to four additional Thunderbolt devices plus one Thunderbolt monitor (5 total).
- High-speed bandwidth expansion for data transfers that are four times faster than USB 3.1 Gen 1 and 25 times faster than FireWire 800.
- Connect up to 15 devices or peripherals to the dock (10 on dock + 5 via Thunderbolt expansion)
- Integrated 3-port USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A and 2-port USB 2.0 Type-A hub for external USB drives, cameras, and phones
- Optical audio-in/audio-out ports provide 5.1 digital audio editing and playback capabilities.
