Product description The DAGE1040-PM 10-Bay eSATA JBOD Enclosure from iStarUSA is an external 10-bay array that supports JBOD, which allows each drive bay to be independently utilized. Additionally, if your host system has a RAID controller card, then the DAGE1040-PM can be configured as a RAID array. This enclosure connects to your system using its two eSATA ports, each of which support port multiplication, meaning that multiple storage devices may be connected to a single port. The DAGE1040-PM's ten drive bays natively support 3.5" and 2.5" SATA III 6 Gb/s, SATA II 3 Gb/s, SATA 1.5 Gb/s, SAS-2 6 Gb/s, and SAS-1 3 Gb/s drives. However, bear in mind that while this array will recognize the SAS interface, it's backplane is eSATA, so SAS features will not be supported.
While this array does have ten drive bays, they are split up into two hotswap modules, each of which is equipped with five drive bays, with access to each drive bay being controlled using a silver handle. All drive bays also feature hotswap support, while power and drive activity LEDs let users know that things are running smoothly, and system cooling is provided by two 80mm fans. iStarUSA's DAGE1040-PM operates using an integrated 300W power supply and an included power cord.
