Product description RAID Arrays for Photography and Pro Video Read More ubrvtxtqxutvzcuwssx The JMR ELECTRONICS 32TB 16 Bay PCIe x8 Extender Split BP Storage System/ RAID/ Drives/ Cables is an Enterprise-class storage device that comes equipped with a RAID controller, 6.0 Gb/s SATA hard drives, and cables. The system boasts 32 TB of data storage capacity and up to 1750 MB/s data transfer rates. Its 16 hot-swappable disk drive bays are also capable of supporting 3.0 Gb/s SAS hard drives (not included).
The device is powered by dual 350 W (N+1) hot-swappable power supplies and also features four high-velocity hot-swappable cooling fans that provide an efficient thermal solution. Also present is an internal SAS Expander for single cable connection to a SAS host controller, as well as a 5-slot Gen 2 x8 PCI Express (PCIe) backplane offering expansion ports for all compatible user-installed PCIe cards. The backplane comes with a x16 PCIe host switch card.
The Extender's 16 hard disk drives are connected via an internal SAS controller that occupies 1 or 2 of the 5 PCIe slots. The other 3 or 4 PCIe slots are usable for any PCIe compatible cards, including NICs, HBAs, RAID controllers and more. Essentially, the Extender broadens your host server's PCI Express bus outside the server, offering extra slots for any application. The 16 drive storage subsystem in the common Extender enclosure may or may not be used, at the user's choice.
In order to connect the Extender to your server, you will need to have an x8 PCI Express external port on said server. A single low-cost plug-in card provides this port, occupying one PCIe slot in the host and creating an "external" x8 PCIe connector, making the x8 PCIe bus available to the Extender. - Enterprise-class storage device
