Product description The Lightning XD Dual-Slot PCIe to Thunderbolt 2 Expansion Chassis from JMR Electronics is equipped with two full-height, half-length PCIe slots that operate mechanically at x8 and electrically at x4. Each PCIe slot will only support bus powered PCIe cards. The advantage of this chassis having PCIe slots is that it will allow PCIe cards to be utilized with systems that do not have any available PCIe slots, such as the 2013 Mac Pro. Common applications of PCIe expansion cards include SAS/SATA and Fibre channel host bus adapters and RAID controllers, video capture cards, audio interface cards, 10GbE network cards, and more.
For connecting to your system, this chassis uses two Thunderbolt 2 ports. Both Thunderbolt 2 ports operate with bi-directional transfer speeds of up to 20 Gb/s, with one port being used to connect this expansion chassis to your system and the other being used to daisy chain compatible peripherals. Included with this Dual-Slot PCIe to Thunderbolt 2 Expansion Chassis is an 84W power supply and protection is provided by a limited 1-year warranty.
Please bear in mind that this chassis will not support full-height, full-length cards or cards that require additional power. Common Applications - SAS/SATA host bus adapters and RAID controller cards
