Its trayl-ess design is an upgrade from previous models that required mounting hard drives into trays before placing them into the drive bay. The trays were the reason for restricted cooling that most users experienced when using the older removable bays. You can fit a 3.5" SATA HDD directly into the drive bay and it will still work perfectly making it a cut above the rest in its category.
