Product description The Kood P Series 8-Point Diffraction Star Filter is designed for use with a Kood P Series or Cokin P Series Filter Holder. When used perpendicular to a point light source such as the sun, a light bulb, or a candle; a combination of fine etched line types within the filter help to create a starburst effect with eight primary diffraction spikes that extend from the light source. Those diffraction spikes at first share the same color as the light source, but then appear to become multicolored. This is due to the ability of some of those etched lines to separate light into its component low frequency and high frequency wavelengths, resulting in distinguishable colors ranging from red to blue within those starbursts.
This filter is most effective for pictures where the light source used to generate the starburst effect is a highlight with a significant degree of contrast from the rest of the image. The frame the Kood P Series 8-Point Diffraction Star Filter is mounted in features serrated edges so that the filter can be easily rotated while placed within a compatible holder in order to adjust the direction of the diffraction spikes and overall orientation of the starburst effect. -
