Product description - Quick Listen: Korg Volca FM
The Volca FM from Korg is a 3-voice digital FM synthesizer that faithfully reproduces the sound engine of a classic FM synthesizer with its sharp, metallic sounds, notable electric pianos, and deep, full bass. The unit features 6 operators, and 32 algorithms provide complete compatibility and can even load files in the SYS-EX/SYX format of the Yamaha DX7. The Volca FM makes editing patches easy and accessible with single knobs mapped to multiple parameters. The hardcore programmers can menu dive into full parameter edits and a Parameter List Guide is included. Additionally, the instrument includes an on-board chorus effect capable of adding depth and to your sound creations.
A built-in 16-step loop sequencer offers the ability to record phrases as you play them. The Motion Sequencer allows you to record knob edits in real time while the Warp Active Step and Pattern Chain functions can provide dynamic changes to your programmed sequences. Additionally, an on-board arpeggiator offers a total of 9 types including three patterns each of "Rise", "Fall", and "Random" and aids for the creation of crazy looping rhythms and patterns.
The unit can be programmed with its 27-key Multi-Touch keypad or with an external MIDI controller or DAW via its 5-pin DIN MIDI input. Multiple units from the Volca line can be clock synced with the 1/8" Sync In and Out connectors. When two units of Volca FM are connected, you can clone the sound programs and sequence data from Volca FM to Volca FM. Playback is provided through the 1/8" headphone output or through the Volca Keys' built-in speaker. It can be powered by the included six AA batteries or with the optional KA-350 AC adapter.
