Product description The TP-400W FireWire to Twisted Pair Transmitter/Receiver Range Extender from Comprehensive / Kramer allows you to extend the range of your FireWire devices using CAT5 networking cable. The device takes a FireWire signal and converts it to a signal that can be transmitted over CAT5. A second unit is needed to convert the incoming signal back into a FireWire one at the other end of the chain, so you'll need at least 2 of these devices to extend the range of your FireWire signal. - Extend FireWire Range
- You'll be able to extend your FireWire range by up to 320' (100 m) using a pair of extenders. You can even add a 3rd extender, allowing you to go for up to 640' (200 m) between your FireWire device and computer.
- Spark-Guard Protection
- The extender includes Spark-Guard circuitry to protect your FireWire device and computer against electric charges that can damage them. This not only allows you to extend your range, but also protects your equipment at the same time.
- PowerConnect System
- The PowerConnect system ensures that only one unit, either the receiver or transmitter, needs to actively powered when used with other units that also have this feature. This lets you use the unit in situations where power is not readily available in a specific location.
