Product description The Kula Deeper is a lens attachment designed to create stereoscopic 3D photos or video in-camera, with any camera. Constructed using four mirrors, the Deeper enables recording of stereo pairs within the same frame, which can then be viewed in 3D in a variety of ways. The free Kulacode software can be used to process recorded photos and videos into a range of formats for viewing, including the MPO format for use with 3D televisions, as well as anaglyph and stereo pair photo types.
The Deeper features an ABS plastic housing and a built-in 77mm threaded mount for attaching directly to a lens. Optional adapters are also available for attaching to lenses featuring a smaller filter mount diameter. It is recommended to use the Deeper with a zoom lens with an approximate wide-angle position of at least 27mm. - Deeper
- Produces a stereo image within a single photo or video file, which then can be viewed in 3D in a number of ways. The results can be instantly viewed on the rear monitor of a camera in 3D using the included stereo viewer. When initially created, a slim blurred line will show where the two mirrors meet, which can further be removed through a variety of processes.
- Design
- The Deeper is constructed from a series of four mirrors that help to produce the stereo image within a single file. Housed within an ABS plastic housing, the Deeper features a metal 77mm threaded ring to attach directly to the filter mount of a lens. Optional adapter rings are also available for use on other lenses with different filter mount diameters.
- Process
- It is recommended to use the Deeper with standard zoom lenses that enable you to zoom to an approximate 27mm (equivalent) focal length. This wide-angle perspective is the basic position that allows the mirrors to completely fill the frame. Zooming to longer focal length settings allows you to further control where in the frame your subject will appear.
Accurate exposure metering and autofocus control is maintained during use. However if autofocus becomes slow or inaccurate, it can be solved by simply focusing on one side of the image, which will then ensure both sides of the stereo pair are in sharp focus. Viewing Methods - Stereo Viewer
- Included with the Deeper, this viewing means is optimized for viewing full-screen 3D content from a 2-3.3' viewing distance. This allows you to view the stereo photo or video in full color directly from a camera or computer screen. The unedited images made using the Deeper can be viewed this way, or, to remove the blurred line separating the stereo pair, the image can be processed using Kulacode to make a cleaner finished file.
- Anaglyph
- The stereo image can be processed using the free Kulacode software in order to produce an anaglyph, which can then be viewed using the included anaglyph glasses. This method employs cyan and red lenses in the glasses, which filter out colors from one of the eye's perspective so the left eye perspective is only seen by the left eye and the right eye perspective is only seen by the right eye, forming a 3D image.
- Stereo-Card
- Similar to the stereo viewer, this method employs the Kulacode software to help produce a printed strip of the stereo pair of images that, when viewed through the stereo viewer, depict a 3D scene.
- Cross-Eyed
- Also similar to the stereo viewer and stereo-card viewing means, this process allows you to visualize 3D imagery without the need of an additional viewing aid. The Kulacode software processes the stereo pair so the dedicated perspectives of each eye are swapped so when one's eyes are crossed, a 3D image can be seen.
- 3D TV
- Kulacode can also process imagery into the MPO file format, which is the format used by 3D televisions or other electronic 3D viewing means, such as 3D-compatible head-mounted displays.
