Product description The Creatr XL Dual Extruder 3D Printer from Leapfrog features dual extruders that support two-color and two-material printing up to a remarkably tall build size of 7.9 x 10.6 x 23.6". Using a single extruder allows you to print even larger - 9.1 x 10.6 x 23.6". The heated build plate supports printing with both ABS and PLA filaments, as well a dissolvable plastic called PVA, and even Nylon and Brick filaments. Leapfrog manufactures both ABS and PLA filaments in a range of about a dozen colors for use with the Creatr XL, which allows you to produce prints in over 100 color combinations. The Creatr XL can print at resolutions as fine as 50 microns for highly detailed results, or as coarse as 350 microns when great precision is not required. The Creatr XL 3D Printer ships fully-assembled and pre-calibrated, and requires only two software downloads to operate, both of which are available for free on Leapfrog's website. The Creatr XL is constructed of durable laser-cut aluminum, and is compatible with Windows, Mac, and Linux operating systems. - Exceptionally Tall Build Volume
- The most striking feature of the Creatr XL is its ability to print objects up to almost two feet tall. This triples the the build height of the regular Creatr 3D printer, expanding the range of applications possible with home 3D printing.
- Dual Extruders & Five Materials
- Two nozzles on the Creatr XL allow you to not only print with two colors in over one hundred color combinations, but also enable you to print with more than one material at a time. A convenient use for this feature would be to print a complicated design with sturdy ABS filament, while using the second extruder to print supporting material in PLA or PVA plastics, which can then be dissolved for removal. Whereas breaking away ABS-printed support material would leave marks on your 3D prints, dissolving the supporting material will instead result in a smooth surface.
The Creatr XL is also compatible with two other Exotic Filaments from Leapfrog: Nylon filament can withstand more pressure than ABS and PLA plastics, and can be dyed after printing for more creative possibilities. Brick filament contains small brick fibers, which makes your 3D print look like it is made from sandstone. - Durable Aluminum
- The Leapfrog Creatr XL is made of laser-cut aluminum parts, engineered to ensure that the accuracy of the printer is unaffected by temperature changes. Instead of using the usual plastic or wood, the Creatr XL's sturdy aluminum frame was designed to provide durability that does not diminish over time.
- Print Out of the Box
- The 3D printer is fully assembled and pre-calibrated when it arrives at your doorstep. You will need to install one software program for the conversion of your design from a 3D software STL-file to a printable file (G-code), and another to control the printer. Both are available free of charge on the Leapfrog website.
