Product description The B&H Binocular Buying Guide Read More Sporting a powerful magnification, extra low-dispersion glass, and their proprietary Twilight Max HD Light Management System, Leupold 10x42 BX-4 Pro Guide HD Binoculars, in Sitka Gear's Sub-Alpine camouflage pattern, deliver bright and sharp high-contrast images with true-to-life color and crisp clarity even when observing at medium to long-range.Image quality is enhanced through the use of phase-corrected coatings on the prisms. The lenses are made of high-transmittance calcium-fluoride glass, which, by their nature, limit reflection and increase color fidelity and contrast. The Twilight Max HD system complements the glass with index-matched lens coatings that were specifically engineered for the calcium-fluoride lenses to raise the already-high transmittance across the entire visible spectrum — with special emphasis on the blue and violet wavelengths that are most prevalent in low light, such as at dawn and dusk. Their 42mm objectives gather generous amounts of light to further boost performance in less-than-ideal conditions without the bulk and weight of larger objectives, while a wide angle of view helps to reduce the appearance of distracting hand shake that is often associated with powerful optics. All of these optical features work together to present the user with a comfortable and immersive observational experience.Designed to withstand the rigors of the trail, the optical tubes are nitrogen-filled and O-ring sealed to make them waterproof and resistant to internal fogging when moving through extreme temperature variations. The chassis is made from an aluminum alloy to make it lightweight and corrosion resistant without sacrificing strength and stability. To further cut weight while providing users with more area to grip, Leupold employs an open-bridge configuration with a dual hinge. Its oversized, knurled center focusing wheel allows for sharp focusing even while wearing gloves. For long-duration glassing sessions, or to reduce fatigue and visible hand shake that are common with high magnifications and large objectives, the Pro Guide HD can be mounted on a tripod or other support system using an optional adapter. - Optical Performance
-
- 10x magnification allows for detailed observations of distant subjects
- 42mm objective lenses improve light-gathering ability versus smaller objectives while helping to maintain a compact form factor
- BAK4 roof prisms deliver a round exit pupil and a crisp and clear image with limited edge distortion
- High Definition (HD) extra low-dispersion calcium-fluoride glass lens elements reduce chromatic and spherical aberrations for increased contrast, improved color rendition, and sharpness without distortion across the entire field of view
- Phase-corrected prism coatings reduce internal interference to improve contrast, clarity, and resolution
- Twilight Max HD Light Management System improves color, clarity, and contrast using index-matched multi-coatings that complement the optical glass to ensure maximum light transmission across the entire visual spectrum — especially the upper blue/violet range to enhance low-light vision
- Wide 62° apparent angle of view helps to reduce the appearance of distracting hand shake that is common when holding high-power optics, while presenting an immersive observational experience
- Generous 326' field of view at 1000 yards
- Use and Handling
-
- Open-bridge/dual-hinge configuration reduces weight without sacrificing strength or stability
- Large slip-resistant center focusing wheel is easy to manipulate in cold or wet conditions, or when wearing gloves
- Locking right-eye dioptric adjustment on focus wheel allows for precise focusing for sharper and clearer views
- Twist-up click-stop rubber eyecups for comfortable use with or without eyewear; textured for easier handling with gloves
- Tripod mountable with optional adapter for hands-free use to eliminate vibrations and arm fatigue
- Comfortable 16mm eye relief reduces eye strain for easier viewing
- 4.2mm exit pupil will cover pupils as they open in low light to keep the entire scene in view at all times
