Product description Leupold takes low-light optical performance to a new level with its 3-15x56 VX-5HD CDS-ZL2 Riflescope by combining High-Definition (HD) optical glass, the Twilight Max Light Management System, and an extra-wide 56mm objective aperture. While the Twilight Max coatings allow more blue and red light to balance colors and improve contrast in low-light conditions, the HD optical glass reduces color distortion and maintains true color in generated images. The exterior optical surfaces are also treated with scratch-resistant Guard-Ion Rain Shedding Coatings, which repel water droplets, dirt, and oil. To improve aiming accuracy, the second image plane contains an illuminated FireDot 4 Fine reticle. The reticle's pattern features three posts, a thin crosshair, and a brilliant red target dot.The illumination system provides adjustable brightness and a motion-activated on/off control—the Motion Control Sensor Technology (MTS). This function deactivates the illumination after 5 minutes of stillness and reactivates it when you move your gear again. Another highlight is the included Custom Dial System ZeroLock 2 Elevation Dial (CDS-ZL2), which enables slip-free, lockable elevation settings that prevent accidental rotation away from zero. The dial features a pinch release button on the top and a 38 MOA adjustment with 1/4 MOA click values.
To protect delicate alignment of the optical elements for years of service, the housing is crafted from 6061-T6 aluminum and features a single-piece 30mm maintube. It is waterproof, fogproof, and filled with an argon/krypton mixture to reduce the effect of thermal shock. Its opto-mechanics also provide a twin bias erector system to increase holding force and to reduce backlash. - Optical Performance
