Product description The Levenhuk Skyline Travel 50 50mm f/7 Alt-Az Refractor Telescope is designed for portability and ease-of-use for both astronomical and terrestrial observations. Its refractor-style optical tube has a respectable aperture that gathers copious amounts of light for viewing the moon, planets, and bright deep sky objects like stars and clusters; and a shorter focal length that produces a moderate magnification potential. A photo-style alt-azimuth pan/tilt head easily mounts the optical tube assembly (OTA) with a simple screw, has a control handle to enable smooth movement, and locks the altitude in place for hands-free use to minimize vibration.Supporting it all is a photo-style tripod that collapses low enough for tabletop use and extends to full-sized height. The included prism corrects the view, enabling the scope to be used as a conventional terrestrial spotting scope, and it comes with two eyepieces offering low 18x and high 45x magnifications, although any 1.25" astronomical eyepiece may be used. Everything in this kit — OTA, tripod, head, and accessories — fit inside the included backpack to make it as portable and easy-to-carry as possible. - Optical Tube
-
- 50mm aperture is ideal for lunar and planetary viewing, and for observing bright deep-sky objects such as stars, star clusters, and nebulae
- 360mm focal length keeps the overall length relatively short to be easier to set up and transport
- Refractor optical design produces clearer views with reduced chromatic aberration and fringing versus reflector designs
- Anti-reflection fully multi-coated optics improve light transmission, color rendition, sharpness, and contrast
- Reliable and sturdy rack-and-pinion focuser
- Integrated dew shield prevents condensation at night, and minimizes glare during the day
