Product description The Link Electronics PDR-885 is a Closed Caption Encoder with an integral Decoder for inserting caption and text data on Line 21 of the NTSC signal. Caption and Text data may be inserted in either field of the Vertical Blanking Interval. In addition, data on the incoming video signal may be recovered from either field of the VBI. - Encoding
- Encoding can be NTSC on field 1 or field 2 of line 21; this encoding works well with the old system and with updated FCC specifications.
- Data Channels
- Incoming data may be displayed as Open Captions using the built-in Closed Caption Decoder and captured by a computer utilizing the serial data port.
- V-Chip
- This unit is V-Chip compatible, therefore does not let the closed caption signal interfere with the V chip information.
- Test
- A test function is actuated with a front panel button; this test signal places a text message on line 21 to confirm proper operation.
- Serial Ports
- For remote captioning applications, a second serial port is available as a modem input. Both serial ports may be configured for RS-232 or RS-422 I/O, with optional plug-in PCB.
- Rackmountable
- This unit was designed to fit in a 1 rack unit space.
