Product description The Ultimate Guide to Lomography Read More The Lomography Belair X 6-12 Jetsetter Medium Format Camera is a folding medium format film camera that is capable of shooting in 6 x 12, 6 x 9, and 6 x 6 formats. This camera utilizes an electronic automatic exposure shutter to provide accurate, consistent exposure results or, for more creative results, a bulb setting is available for making long exposures. A multiple exposure mode is also available for building up several exposures within a single frame.
While this camera supports the use of the large 120 film format, it also has a relatively compact form-factor due to its integration of a bellows to afford a collapsible design. The Jetsetter edition of the Belair X 6-12 series is constructed from silver metal with a brown leather wrap for a durable, classic appearance.
The Belair X 6-12 supports an interchangeable lens design, and comes with two different lenses to provide both normal and wide-angle perspectives. The 90mm lens has a 35mm-equivalent focal length of 32mm in the 6 x 12 format while the 58mm lens has a 35mm-equivalent focal length of 21mm in the 6 x 12 format. Both lenses have a maximum aperture of f/8 and support a four-step zone focus system for straight-forward, simple focusing. - Three Shooting Formats
- The Belair X 6-12 is capable of recording in three separate formats: panoramic 6 x 12 (six frames per roll of 120), standard 6 x 9 (eight frames per roll of 120), and square 6 x 6 (12 frames per roll of 120). You can vary your shooting format with the interchangeable film masks, which are inserted prior to loading the camera with film.
- Interchangeable Lens System and Zone Focusing
- An interchangeable lens system supports the use of multiple lenses to vary your perspective and other image qualities. Two lenses are included with the camera: a 90mm normal and a 58mm wide-angle.
The 90mm Standard Lens gives a natural perspective, resembling a 32mm lens in 35mm format when shooting in the 6 x 12 format or a 52mm lens when working in the 6 x 6 format. The 58mm Ultra-Wide-Angle Lens has a 35mm-equivalent focal length of 21mm when working in the 6 x 12 format, or 35mm in the 6 x 6 format. Both lenses have an aperture range between f/8 and f/16 and utilize a four-step zone focusing system (1m, 1.5m, 3m, and infinity) for simple use. - Automatic Exposure Shutter with Multiple and Long Exposure Capabilities
- An electronic automatic shutter is employed to deliver consistent, accurate results that are dependent on the film speed in use. This automatic shutter mechanism will close once the film has received enough light depending on the lighting conditions and ISO selected (ISO 50-1600 supported). The exposure range covers EV4-15 to support a wide range of conditions. A bulb setting is also available for controllable long exposures.
Multiple exposures are also possible when working with the MX setting to record as many exposures within a single frame as desired for creative effects. - Design Features
-
- The Belair X 6-12 features a collapsible bellows design to promote greater portability and convenience for carrying the camera with you at all times.
- A built-in standard hot shoe allows you to use any hot shoe-enabled flash with your camera. The auto exposure shutter will still function normally to expose for ambient light levels when a flash is in use.
- 120 size film is used and allows you to record six to 12 exposures per roll depending on the format you are shooting. 120 film also integrates frame numbers into its paper backing, which are used to determine how far to wind the camera to your next exposure. Two red frame windows are located on the camera back to see these frame numbers; the lower window is used for 6 x 6 and 6 x 12 formats and the upper window is used for the 6 x 9 format. When shooting 6 x 12, you will wind to the even frame numbers (2, 4, 6, 8, 10, and 12) to move the film enough to prevent overlapping frames.
