Product description f/256: Tips for Digital Pinhole Photographs Read More Characterized by its swirly bokeh and sharp central focus, the black Petzval 85mm f/2.2 Lens from Lomography for Nikon F-mount cameras is an updated design of the first Petzval lens from 1840. Sharing much of the distinct image quality from the classic optic, as well as the unique brass exterior, this version has been updated for use on modern DSLRs and film SLRs and features Russian multi-coated glass to deliver a high degree of sharpness, contrast, and color saturation while maintaining the unique field curvature, vignetting, and shallow depth of field of the original lens. Aperture settings are controlled using seven different Waterhouse stops, ranging from f/2.2 to f/16, and a geared rack focusing mechanism affords precise manual focus control as close as 3.3' away. Harking back to the origins of photography, this optic meshes an ethereal, soft, and distinctive image quality with contemporary handling to provide a unique option for portraiture and other creative applications. - Contemporary iteration of the classic Petzval lens from 1840, this lens produces a distinctive swirly bokeh with a high degree of central sharpness, contrast, and color saturation.
- A standard portrait-length lens, this Nikon F version is compatible with FX sensors and 35mm film, as well as DX sensors where it will provide a 127.5mm equivalent focal length.
- Seven drop-in style Waterhouse stops, ranging from f/2.2 to f/16, are included for aperture and depth of field control, and are inserted into the middle of the lens prior to making an exposure. Additionally, a blank protective plate is also included for keeping in the lens during travel or storage.
- Constructed from Russian multi-coated glass, this lens' optical design maintains its classical appearance with notable field curvature, inherently shallow depth of field, and vignetting towards the edges of the frame, while providing a high degree of sharpness and contrast for use with modern DSLRs and film types.
- Black color for a classic finish that blends in with the rest of your gear.
- Manual geared rack focus control allows you to focus as closely as 3.3' away.
- In addition to the lens and seven Waterhouse stops, a blank protective plate, Petzval book, leather pouch, cleaning cloth, and brass lens cap are also included.
