The tripod features a Quick Power Lock System, ground level adapter, and an Easy Link attachment. It can hold up to 8.8 lb of gear, and has a maximum height of 66.5". The ground-level adapter replaces the center column to allow the tripod's mounting plate to sit just 7" above the ground with the legs at their widest angle.
The QPL system allows the three leg sections to be completely extended with one hand for simple set up. An Easy Link adapter attachment allows instant connection between tripod and accessories, such as LED lights for macro photography and DSLR video applications using Manfrotto articulated arms and brackets. Each leg can be set at four different angles to accommodate uneven ground or rough terrain.
The head is fabricated from a lightweight polymer called Adapto that offers great strength and functionality without the weight of metal. A unique mechanism allows you to fold the handles parallel to the tripod for tighter, more convenient packing. Other features include +90° / -30° lateral and front tilt, and three bubble levels for accurate framing. Both the 360° rotation as well as the backward and forward tilt movements function simultaneously, however for changing from a landscape to portrait orientation, the sideways tilt can be independently adjusted and secured.
The control handle for the combined backwards and forwards tilt plus 360° rotation, and the control handle for portrait orientation can each be used to lock their corresponding movements by twisting each handle's ergonomic grip. For storage and transport, the MH293D3-Q2 3-Way, Pan-and-Tilt Head can be positioned so that both of its handles are arranged parallel to each other as well as to the legs of a folded tripod the head is mounted on.
