Product description The MASELEC MLA-4 is a rack-mountable 3 RU stereo multiband compressor/expander designed to deliver precise and versatile dynamics processing for recording, mixing, and mastering engineers in home, project, and commercial studios. Two adjustable crossover filters split the input signal into three bands, which can be independently compressed or expanded with per-band controls for threshold, ratio, attack, release, and make-up gain.The sidechains can remain separate or be linked with one of four linking options. Additionally, a selectable sidechain boost offers increased compression or expansion for high frequencies. Any single band or all bands may be sent to the outputs for flexible monitoring, while 16-segment LED meters always display gain change for the three bands. As with the per-band controls, the master input, output, and threshold knobs are stepped for easy recall. XLR 3-pin inputs and outputs ensure standardized connectivity with balanced line-level devices. - Input signal is split into three frequency bands via adjustable crossover filters
- Each band is passed through a stereo compressor/expander for customizable processing
- Outputs of the three compressors/expanders are re-combined and fed to the overall output
- Four selectable frequencies for each of the two crossovers
- Per-band controls for threshold, ratio, attack, release, and make-up gain
- Separate left and right input controls offer 0.5 dB increments
- Master threshold and output level controls
- Selectable output source allows any one of the bands or all the bands to feed the XLR outputs
- Sidechains can be unlinked or set to one of four different linking options—low-band to mid-band, low-band to high-band, low-band to mid-and-high bands, or all-bands linked
- Selectable sidechain boost makes higher frequencies compress or expand more
- All controls are stepped for easy recall
- Three 16-segment LED meters show gain change for each of the bands
- Master bypass allows easy comparative listening
- Rack-mountable enclosure occupies 3 RU of rack space
