Product description The Meade Instruments Series 4000 8-24mm Zoom Eyepiece eliminates the need to change eyepieces so you can spend more time viewing the night sky instead of fumbling in the dark when you want higher or lower magnifications.Sporting a wide zoom range the eyepiece allows you to easily and quickly change magnifications — making this an ideal instrument for wide-field viewing or star-hopping navigation with the ability to simply turn the textured collar and increase the magnification to the perfect power. Its 6-element/4-group lens configuration helps to maintain collimation during magnification transitions, and anti-reflection multi-coatings limit light loss while boosting color rendition and contrast.At the long 24mm focal length, the eyepiece boasts a wide 60° angle of view and impressive 18mm eye relief, making it easy to look through and immerse yourself in the view. Dialing the eyepiece up to the 8mm focal length maximizes the magnification while still maintaining a generous 40° angle of view with a comfortable 15mm eye relief. For repeatability and ease-of-use, the outside of the housing has an etched focal length scale and a textured rubberized collar for easier handling. The eyepiece is outfitted with a standard 1.25" barrel to make it compatible with the most common size of focuser drawtubes and accessories, and a fold-down rubber eyecup for comfortable use with or without eyeglasses.
