Minox broke with tradition and increased the objective lens size from the more common 42mm to 44mm, which increased both the light-gathering ability and apparent angle of view. To further increase image brightness, they coated the optics in their proprietary M* anti-reflection coatings which also translates to neutral color rendition so colors appear more true and natural when viewing through the optic. The combination of optical coatings, larger objectives, wide angle of view, and the 10x magnification on this version of the BV produces an immersive observational experience.To help reduce weight - and therefore user-fatigue - Minox employs a strong, lightweight, and corrosion-resistant polycarbonate chassis material which helps to offset the larger objective lenses. Utilizing an open-bridge configuration also helps to cut weight while providing a full-handed grip that helps maintain control in cold and wet conditions. The optical tubes are nitrogen-filled to make them water and fogproof which allows them to handle extreme temperature and weather conditions. Weighing in at just 26 ounces, the BV's are light enough to hold and use one-handed, but it you're planning on long observation sessions they can be mounted on a tripod using an optional tripod adapter. - Optical Performance
