Product description The B&H Binocular Buying Guide Read More survwrafrudy The white 7x50 Nautik BN DCM Binocular from Minox combines fully multicoated glass elements with an airtight housing and an array of sensors to create a well-equipped tool for marine navigation and observation. Minox collaborated with the Volkswagen industrial design team to develop the Nautik binocular series; the results are electro-optical devices with a streamlined form factor, ergonomic handling and refined style. To prepare the Nautik binocular for use on the water or in the rain, its housing is nitrogen-filled for fogproof performance and it is also buoyant and submersible. An integrated digital compass and inclinometer provide this Nautik series binocular with a range of functions that set it apart from other fixed-magnification optics. The built-in inclinometer senses tilt on two axes and determines the binocular orientation relative to level ground. This information helps maximize compass accuracy and minimizes the possibility of incorrect readings. Compass readings are displayed as either degrees or cardinal directions in the center of the field of view using a brightness-adjustable red overlay. A horizontal ranging reticle can be activated to help the observer determine approximate range to (or size of) an object. The built-in environment sensor array uses a barometer, altimeter, and thermometer to provide a range of data about the observer's location and its ambient conditions. An in-view digital clock is also packed into the Nautik DCM's spectrum of features. Time is displayed in 24-hour format, and the clock also has a stopwatch that can save up to three recorded times. Both the digital clock and the triad of environmental sensors are controlled by a low-profile wheel located on top of the binocular housing. Minox's single-ocular focusing system enables focus-free performance that is ideal for intermediate to long-range observations. Objects beyond a 40-foot (12m) distance will appear detailed and sharp without need to refocus the ocular for views along the horizon. The ocular can also focus on subjects as close as 23 feet (7m) without sacrificing image quality or depth of field. This focus system is functional yet flexible enough to handle almost any glassing application. Non-slip rubber armor, twist-in eyepieces, and a threaded tripod mount help make the 7x50 Nautik DCM a full-featured binocular for a wide range of outdoor activities. - Optical Performance
