Product description Designed for serious filmmakers and photographers, the 1.33x Anamorphic Lens from Moondog Labs elevates the look of your content to create compelling, professional-looking films and videos. Anamorphic lenses operate by capturing a wider image than would normally be possible with standard optics. They accomplish this by horizontally squeezing, or vertically stretching a wider image onto your iPhone's sensor. As this lens performs a squeeze of 1.33x, the horizontal field of view will increase by 33%, which gives videos an aspect ratio of 2.40:1, as compared to the spherical, or non-anamorphic ratio of 16:9 (1.78:1). The aspect ratio of still images will also increase 33%, from 4:3 (1.33:1) to 16:9 (1.78:1).
Another benefit of using anamorphic lenses is that they preserve the full resolution of your phone's sensor for the mode you're shooting in. For example, since the iPhone natively shoots video with a 16:9 aspect ratio, you would have to apply a matte to your footage in post-production to create an anamorphic aspect ratio, which would result in part of the frame being wasted and thus lower resolution. Using an anamorphic lens would allow the wider image to natively fit into the iPhone's 16:9 video capture mode.
This lens has been built using cinema-grade glass. Other characteristics of anamorphic lenses include organic flares and distortion for added character and depth. Please bear in mind that after capturing anamorphic content, a software de-squeeze must be performed, otherwise the content will look distorted. This lens has been designed to be compatible with a range of devices and requires a slim and shock-resistant RhinoShield case with a precision 12.5mm lens mount (sold separately). Using the appropriate Rhino Shield Case, this lens is currently compatible with the iPhone X, XS, XS Max, 8 Plus, and 7 Plus, as well as the Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL.
Please note that this lens includes a professional-grade lens mount for the iPhone XR. The RhinoShield case still needs to be purchased separately. If you are buying for a phone that is not the iPhone XR, you will also need to buy a compatible 12.5mm lens mount. General Features - Increases the horizontal field of view by 33%
