Product description The X399 SLI Plus TR4 ATX Motherboard from MSI is built on the AMD X399 chipset, supporting AMD Ryzen Threadripper series processors with a TR4 socket. It has eight DDR4 slots that can hold up to 128GB of quad-channel RAM at speeds of up to 3600 MHz and above when overclocked. For storage, there are eight SATA III ports and three M.2 slots that can operate at speeds of up to 32 Gb/s when used with a compatible NVMe drive. Without integrated video ports, this motherboard will have to rely on a dedicated GPU for graphical processing and video output. There are four PCIe 3.0 x16 slots that can accommodate 4-way NVIDIA SLI and AMD CrossFire configurations as well as two PCIe 2.0 x1 slots for additional PCIe-based hardware. Other notable features include Realtek ALC1220 7.1-channel HD audio, Intel I211 Gigabit LAN, and MSI Mystic Light RGB lighting. - Mystic Light RGB Cover & Heatsink
- The X399 SLI Plus is built with RGB lighting that you can customize using MSI's software. Choose from multiple lighting effects and millions of colors to fit your style, and even sync it with other RGB-compatible product with Mystic Light Sync.
- Cooling
- This motherboard is built with six fan headers for cooling your system. Once connected, the fans can be adjusted in BIOS or with a third-party software to your preferred speed, so you can find a perfect balance between noise and cooling performance.
- NVIDIA SLI & AMD CrossFire Support
- If you aren't getting the graphical fidelity and frame rates you want in your games, you can install additional graphics cards on this motherboard for enhanced performance. It supports up to 4-way NVIDIA SLI and AMD CrossFire.
- Storage
- There are eight SATA III ports on this motherboard designed for traditional 2.5" and 3.5" drives. Moreover, it's also equipped with three M.2 slots, one of which features an M.2 Shield that is built with thermal pads and a heatsink to keep temperatures low and prevent throttling. With a PCIe 3.0 x4 interface, these slots can deliver speeds up of up 32 Gb/s when used with a compatible NVMe drive. For an additional boost in performance, you can enable X-Boost within MSI's software.
- Audio
- MSI Audio Boost consists of both hardware and software additions that are designed to provide you with a high-quality listening experience. The left and right channels are built on separate PCB layers, De-Pop Protection prevents loud popping noises, an EMI-shielded audio processor ensure clean stereo and surround sound, and a dedicated headphone amplifier automatically detects the optimal impedance for your headphones.
- Memory
- The DDR4 memory slots on this motherboard are built with an optimized memory layout and an all-digital power design to offer stability, performance, and low power consumption. Additionally, this motherboard supports XMP for enhanced RAM speeds.
