Product description The AN/PVS-22 Pinnacle Universal Night Sight from N-Vision is a reliable and user friendly high-resolution Clip-on Night Vision Device that mounts on any MIL-STD-1913 rail interface forward of an existing day scope. This front-mounted optic delivers high-quality intensified images directly into the focal plane of the firearm's day-time optic. The optical system of the AN/PVS-22 is parallax-free so it can be installed without needing to re-zero the scope. The day scope's reticle and variable magnification system remains unaffected; they will operate normally. This is a repeatable, reliable, and simple night vision solution that is designed without prisms or other mechanisms that can slip out of alignment. When faced with dynamic lighting conditions, the manual gain-adjustment allows fine-tuning of the sight picture to ensure a minimum of blooming or wash-out. The AN/PVS-22 simplifies the night vision weapon sight requirements while significantly enhancing the flexibility and efficiency of the firearm. The response time to any low or no-light situation will be radically reduced, and the benefit of having one sighting system that can handle nearly any situation goes without saying. The nighttime imaging performance of the AN/PVS-22 is handled by a third generation Pinnacle intensifier tube with a fast f/1.15 catadioptric lens for a brighter and sharper image in starlight. The Pinnacle tube features thin-film technology in combination with an autogated power supply. Autogating maintains the system's ability to deliver high-quality imaging while operating under dynamic lighting conditions, while the thin-film coating of the MCP significantly improves the tube's end-of-life reliability performance. The AN/PVS-22 is optimized for medium-range sniper weapons, assault rifles and machine guns including the MK11, M16, SCAR-H, M240 and 300 Win Mag. and is effective on all weapons from carbines to .50 caliber semi-automatic sniper rifles. US Government Sales Only There are many different variables that affect the distance that one can see with a night vision device, among them the object's size, the level of details being sought from the object and the conditions of observation. Night vision devices detect much further under a full moon and clear skies than they will under a new moon and cloudy skies. Many different formulas are used to determine the statistic of maximum viewing range and the method of calculation varies by manufacturer. The important factors to consider when evaluating any night vision device are the intensifier tube's generation, s/n ratio, level of magnification, specified resolution, along with the clarity & light transmission performance of the optical stack. All night vision devices sold by have mechanisms in place to protect the intensifier tube from a sudden burst of bright light, but this does not mean that bright light doesn't damage the device. No matter what, bright light in any form is not good for the longevity and performance of image intensifier tubes.
