Product description The Nikon Coolpix S3 has a slim, elegant and ultra-portable design made possible by Nikon superior engineering. It offers high shooting performance of 6.0 effective megapixels and features innovative Nikon functions that enable the user to improve images in-camera. The aluminum exterior makes the Coolpix S3 every bit as comfortable in the hand as it is attractive to the eye. The Nikon Coolpix S3 manages to pack a powerful 35-105mm 3x Zoom-Nikkor ED lens (35mm equivalent) whilst retaining a surprisingly slim depth of less than 20mm. The lens also makes use of Nikon's "right-angled" optics system, which enables the lens to function throughout its focal range without ever protruding from the camera body. Furthermore, the Coolpix S3 has a large, bright 2.5-inch LCD monitor, which does away with the need for a viewfinder and makes it easy to play back shots on the spot. Operation is easy thanks to a choice of Graphic User Interfaces (GUI) that gives the user the ability to select functions by either name or icon. A handy HELP button displays easy-to-understand explanations for functions on the main menu, and equally helpful, all information can be displayed in the user's choice of 12 different languages. - 6.0 Effective Megapixels
- With 6.0 million pixels of image information, the Nikon Coolpix S3 can produce stunning, photo quality prints up to 16" x 20".
- High Quality 3x Optical Zoom-Nikkor ED Glass Lens
- The 3x Zoom-Nikkor ED Glass Lens gives you the power of a 35-105mm (35mm equiv.) lens, while Macro capability lets you get as close as 1.6". This combination is supported by Nikon's world renowned optical technology, with pro-quality ED glass delivering crisp, clear images while minimizing chromatic aberration.
- Incredibly Bright 2.5" LCD Dispaly
- With the oversized 2.5" LCD display, images are easier to review and share than on most consumer digital cameras. Furthermore the interface has been designed such that it can be viewed as icons or as a list. If you get confused just hit the Help Button. It will explain the function in the main menu.
- Ultra-Slim & Lightweight Aluminum-Alloy Body
- At less than 1" thick and incredibly lightweight (4.2 oz. without battery), the Nikon Coolpix S3 camera is small enough to carry in any pocket - and the Durable Aluminum-alloy body makes the camera not only slim but sturdy.
- Exclusive Nikon In-Camera Red-Eye Fix and D-Lighting Features
- The in-camera red-eye fix automatically fixes most instances of red-eye in the camera so you may never see red eyes again, and the D-Lighting Feature automatically brightens the dark areas in the picture when in playback mode. Add to that the in-camera cropping feature and Direct printing Capability and you may never need to edit pictures on a computer again!
- Exclusive Face Priority AF
- Imagine a camera smart enough to find a face in a portrait shot. Nikon's Face Priority AF function can do just that when selected through the Portrait Scene Mode. As its name suggests, Face Priority AF ensures that faces remain in focus when shooting portraits by automatically sensing the presence of a human face within the frame and setting accurate focus accordingly.
- Advanced Image Processing
- The exclusive image processing technology found in the Nikon Coolpix S3 takes true-to-life images a step closer to reality with a 256-segment Matrix Metering system for optimal exposures in even the most challenging lighting situations.
- 17 Scene Modes
- The Coolpix S3 features 17 specially programmed modes to automatically handle focus, exposure, white balance and other adjustments that help you take great pictures at the press of a button. 4 of the 17 scene modes come with Scene Assist which offer a selection of easy framing assist options, to help you compose your pictures with the assistance of framing guides displayed in the monitor.
- Face Priority AF
- A great function available in the Portrait Mode is Face Priority AF which automatically finds the subject's face and focuses on it.
- Adjustable GUI (Graphic User Interface) with Help Button
- Adjustable Graphic User Interface allows you to change the interface to view either the icon view or the traditional menu item view. Press the help (?) button and it will instantly display an explanation for all main menu functions on the LCD.
- 5 Color Shooting Options
- Creative Shooting Color Options allow you to select from standard color, vivid color, black & white, sepia and cool modes.
- Take Great Close-Up Pictures
- the Nikon Coolpix S3 provides an extremely tight macro capability with the ability to focus as close as 1.6 inches from your subject.
- Movie and Voice recording
- Shoot QuickTime movies with sound at 15 frames per second at a length that is only limited by the available space on the internal memory or your SD memory card. The voice recording mode saves up to 30 minutes of audio with the internal memory, or up to 5 hours with a 256 MB SD card.
- Long Battery Life
- Shoot up to 200 images on single charge of the included Nikon EN-EL8 lithium-ion rechargeable battery.
