Product description

Enjoy wireless audio streaming and object-based, multi-channel audio with the Onkyo TX-NR787 9.2-Channel Network A/V Receiver. The receiver features Dolby Atmos and DTS:X compatibility for object-based audio support. It delivers up to 100W per channel at 8 Ohms for robust audio playback. Built-in AirPlay and Bluetooth connectivity allow you to wirelessly stream music from compatible audio sources such as computers, MP3 players, smartphones, and tablets. Onboard Wi-Fi and Ethernet connectivity give you the ability to stream music from Internet radio sources.

The Onkyo TX-NR787 has seven HDMI inputs for interfacing audio and video sources, including support for HDR UHD video sources. There's also a USB port on the rear panel for attaching a USB drive. The free Onkyo Controller app will allow you to control your receiver from a smartphone or tablet. Built-in high-resolution audio support allows you to take advantage of dynamic surround sound formats like DTS-HD Master Audio and Dolby TrueHD. Note: Not all services are available in all areas. Access to certain Internet-based content may require a subscription to a service.
    THX Certified Select
  • THX Certified Select helps ensure your home theater has the same high-volume sound experience as a commercial movie theater. To gain certification, amplifiers must pass THX benchmark tests covering nearly every aspect of audio performance. THX Certified Select components suit rooms where screen-to-seat viewing is roughly 10' and room volume around 2000 cubic feet.
Supports Dolby Atmos and DTS:X Playback
  • Object-based soundtracks allow independently mixed sound to play through any speaker in your system. Effects move all around as they do in real life, so you experience 5.2.2-channel Dolby Atmos or DTS:X formats as the director intended. DTS Neural:X is designed to identify spatial effects in multichannel soundtracks and upmix them for 3D playback, while DTS:X offers independent dialogue volume control for movies. Dolby Surround is also included to upmix legacy multichannel formats for playback in a Dolby Atmos-enabled environment.
    Connections for Custom Installation
  • The TX-NR787 features a 12V trigger output for an external component and an IR input for remote control range extension. It supports IP control and RS232, enabling you to configure it with a computer and integrate it into your home automation system. An optional rack-mount kit is also available.
Chromecast built-in with the Google Assistant
  • Stream nearly any music from your compatible smartphone or computer to the receiver and control playback with Chromecast-enabled apps from your iOS or Android phone or tablet, Mac or Windows laptop, or Chromebook. If you have a smart device featuring the Google Assistant, you can cue and control music on the receiver with just your voice.
    DTS Play-Fi Wireless Multi-Room Audio
  • DTS Play-Fi is a wireless protocol that is designed to work with any audio app on mobile devices and computers. Stream whatever's playing to the receiver, even different sources to different components at the same time.
    Supports 4K HDR, BT.2020, 4K/60 Hz, and HDCP 2.2
  • Six rear HDMI inputs and one ARC-enabled output pass 4K HDR video in HDR10, HLG, and Dolby Vision formats through to compatible displays. They support the BT.2020 4K video standard, 4K/60 Hz playback, and HDCP 2.2. The front HDMI input connects video cameras, gaming consoles, or other devices, while the second HDMI output is well suited for connecting a projector.
    AccuEQ with AccuReflex
  • AccuEQ conducts two measurements to set the level, distance, and crossover for all speakers, including the subwoofer. Choose to include or bypass EQ measurement for front left and right speakers, and choose to automatically or manually set the EQ. Further, you can save your own manual EQ settings into three available presets. AccuReflex technology aligns the phase of up-firing "height" speakers with the sound coming directly from your other speakers. Any delay is resolved so that everything arrives at your ears at the same time. The result is cohesive reproduction of object-based soundtracks.
    Three-Zone Sound with Additional Speakers
  • With a 5.2-channel layout in Zone 1 (main), you can use the other four channels to drive speakers in Zone 2 and Zone 3. Analog distribution and dedicated DACs enable digital sources (except HDMI audio) to be synced across rooms simultaneously, or a unique source to be played in every zone at once. The Zone 2 line-level output allows sharing with a hi-fi system.
    Onkyo Controller App Entertainment Management
  • The Onkyo Controller app collects available streaming services and your network-attached audio into one easy-to-use interface. Select sources, control playback, explore content, and distribute audio around your home with ease.
Wi-Fi, AirPlay, and Bluetooth Wireless Connectivity
  • Built-in 2.4/5 GHz Wi-Fi helps ensure stable connectivity so you can enjoy smooth streaming, connection to the Onkyo Controller app, and multi-room audio, while Bluetooth wireless technology is onboard for an easy mobile device or laptop connection. Music lovers have easy access and control of their entire iTunes music library through the receiver. Find and stream music from your iOS, Mac, or Windows device over the Apple AirPlay wireless audio platform.
    Streaming Services and Internet Radio
  • Amazon Music, TIDAL, Deezer, Pandora, Spotify Connect, and TuneIn are all built-in, making entertainment selection easy using the Onkyo Controller app.
    FlareConnect Multi-Room Audio
  • FlareConnect shares audio from network and external audio input sources between compatible components. Enjoy multi-room playback of records, CDs, network music services, and more with supported components and speaker systems. Music selection, speaker grouping, and playback management across the home are built into the Onkyo Controller app.
    384 kHz/32-Bit DAC
  • The AK4458 digital-to-analog converter from Asahi Kasei implements low-distortion filtering technologies for clear sound for nearly any audio format, including compressed, lossless, and hi-res audio MP3, WMA, FLAC, WAV, OggVorbis, AAC, Apple Lossless, DSD 5.6 MHz, LPCM, and Dolby TrueHD.
    Smooth Analog Signal with VLSC
  • Onkyo developed Vector Linear Shaping Circuitry (VLSC) to reassemble the audio signal to its original form following processing. Unlike conventional filters, VLSC removes pulse noise generated in D/A conversion, allowing the sound wave to be reproduced with high fidelity for a smooth analog signal.
    Dynamic Audio Amplification
  • Onkyo's dynamic audio amplification delivers power at 210W/Ch (6 Ohms, 1 kHz, 0.9% THD, 1 channel driven) or 100W/Ch (8 Ohms, 20 Hz to 20 kHz, 0.08% THD, 2 channels driven, FTC).
