They provide a versatile method for interchanging male-to-female or female-to-male connectors. - Reverse the connectors on an optional Utility Strap Sling to switch from wearing it on your left shoulder to your right shoulder - otherwise, if you attempt a reversal without Gender Changers, you end up moving the adjustment hardware to your front and inhibit the free-sliding features of the sling
