Product description The B&H Binocular Buying Guide Read More Designed for performance and the unique requirements demanded in marine environments, Opticron's 8x30 M-3 Marine Binocular features a modest 8x magnification which helps to limit sea-roll disorientation and visible hand shake. Its 30mm objective lenses cut weight versus larger lenses for reduced fatigue during prolonged viewing while keeping the form factor compact enough for easy packing and transport. To help compensate for the smaller objectives, Opticron utilized anti-reflection multi-coatings on the optical surfaces to reduce light loss, and increase color and contrast. Utilizing Porro prisms produces greater depth of field while viewing through them to enable users to better estimate relative distances between objects. Individual focusing eyepieces ensures tack-sharp views, while the rubber eyecups sit tight against the user's eye socket to block peripheral light.Complementing the optical performance is a lightweight and corrosion-resistant, die-cast aluminum chassis to withstand the rigors of saltwater environments. The optical tubes are nitrogen-filled for water and fogproof performance, especially when moving between extreme temperature changes in high-humidity conditions. The chassis is wrapped in a rubber armor that protects the binocular from drops and impacts while providing a slip-resistant grip. Finally, tethered objective lens covers ensure they won't fall overboard and a tethered, one-piece ocular rainguard keeps water out of the eyecups when wearing the optic around the neck. - Optical Performance
