Product description Hard Drives by Application: Which Is Best for You? Read More Designed with a Silicon Motion SM2246EN Series controller and Tier 1 43D NAND flash, the 2TB Mercury Extreme Pro 6G SATA III 2.5" Internal SSD from OWC / Other World Computing features 2TB storage capacity, allowing you to store a variety of files including movies, photos, music, documents, and more. This SSD connects to your system's 2.5" / 7mm bay via its SATA III 6 Gb/s interface that is also compatible with SATA II 3 Gb/s and SATA 1.5 GB/s. Additionally, this drive may be used in 2.5" / 9.5mm drive bays using the included 7mm to 9.5mm spacer. With solid-state drive technology, you benefit from load and access times for your files and programs that are faster than a conventional hard disk drive. Sustained read speeds of up to 525 MB/s and sustained write speeds of up to 402 MB/s allow you to access data stored within the drive quickly and efficiently. SSDs also contain no moving parts, which helps them to be better protected against physical damage. SSDs also receive less wear and tear when compared to traditional spinning hard drives, as there are no moving parts involved. The 2TB Mercury Extreme Pro 6G SSD supports single and multiple drive RAID configurations, including RAID 0, 1, 10, and 0+1, each of which offers redundancy, performance, or a combination of both. It also features 7% over provisioning, meaning that 7% of the drive is always allocated for data management and maintaining the drive's performance. This is further strengthened by the 64GB that are allocated to real-time data redundancy and error correction, with a total of 2GB set aside as flash memory. Additional features include a chip-based 128- and 256-bit AES encryption, data reliability of 66 bits per 1024 bytes, non-recoverable read errors of less than 1 sector per 1016 bits read. This SSD is protected by a limited 5-year warranty. - Global Wear Leveling Algorithms
- Global wear leveling algorithms automatically distribute data evenly and manage program/erase count, helping to maximizing SSD lifespan.
- StaticDataRefresh
- StaticDataRefresh technology manages free space, gradually refreshing data across the SSD over time, helping to limit data corruption
- Hardware BCH ECC
- Hardware BCH ECC corrects errors up to 66-bit/1kB for data retention and drive life
- Advanced Security Protocols
- Advanced security protocols support 128/256-bit-AES disk encryption
- Includes 7mm to 9.5mm Adapter/Spacer
- Attach this adapter to the top of any 2.5" / 7mm drive for installations that require a 9.5mm drive height for proper use, whether you need a 9.5mm drive height for a dock, camera, server, device, PC, or external drive. This adapter is not needed for 2.5" drive installations that use the standard side or bottom mounting positions to secure the drive in place and is not needed for any installation of a 7mm drive in Macs.
