Product description RAID Arrays for Photography and Pro Video Read More The OWC / Other World Computing Mercury Elite Pro Qx2 20TB 4-Bay USB 3.0 RAID Array is a multi-interfaced RAID storage solution that provides a total capacity of 20TB for your Mac and Windows systems. This storage array offers USB 3.0, dual FireWire 800, and an eSATA port with maximum transfer speeds of 300, 100, and 300 MB/s respectively. The Mercury Elite Pro Qx2 has four 5TB 7200 rpm SATA drives and stores up to 20TB of data. Actual storage capacity depends on the RAID configuration. This storage array is pre-configured in RAID 5 mode, which is designed for optimized data protection, capacity, and performance. Hardware RAID levels 0, 1, 5, 10 can also be selected from the system's lockable front panel; each RAID level offers configuration options for capacity, data protection, redundancy, and speed.
This storage array is pre-formatted for Mac but can be re-formatted to work in a Windows environment. Included along with the Mercury Elite Pro storage array are USB 3.0, eSATA, and FireWire 800 cables. Furthermore, a free downloadable software suite is available for backing up and tuning your Mac and Windows systems. - Front Panel RAID Selector
- Thanks to a front panel selector switch, the Mercury Elite Pro Qx2 enables easy configuration of the Hardware RAID settings - Span, 0, 1, 5, 10. These setting allow you to select the best combination of speed, capacity, redundancy, or any combination of the three.
- RAID Levels
- Span: Combines capacity of two or more drives of the same size without any RAID data distribution scheme into one logical desktop volume. Will also combine the capacity of varying size drives based on the lowest capacity drive in the set.
RAID 0 (Stripe): Data is split into blocks over two or more drives at same time for high speeds and large capacity.
RAID 1 (Mirror): Data is written at the same time to two drives only for the highest level of data safety and redundancy.
RAID 5 (Stripe with Parity): Data is Striped (RAID 0) while incorporating redundancy over three or more drives for the best combination of speed, capacity, and redundancy.
RAID 10 (1+0): Data is Striped (RAID 0) over two Mirrored sets (RAID 1) of drives for fast redundancy.
JBOD/Independent drive operation: Each drive can be operated as an individual volume using the Firewire 800/400 or eSATA connections. This feature is not supported for USB connections. - Downloadable Software Suite
