Product description Add RAID 0 storage to your Windows or Mac device with the ThunderBay 6 Six-Bay Thunderbolt 3 RAID 0 Enclosure from OWC / Other World Computing. This robust storage system features six bays that can hold 3.5" or 2.5" SATA III hard drives. It also houses dual Thunderbolt 3 ports, which utilize a USB Type-C interface and transfer data up to 40 Gb/s. Additionally, the ThunderBay 6 has a DisplayPort 1.2 port onboard, so you can connect 4K video content if you so desire.
With this enclosure, you can expect up to 1500 MB/s of sustained performance thanks to its integrated RAID 0 and 1 support, which is powered by a SoftRAID Lite XT engine. Another useful feature you can find in the ThunderBay 6 is its daisy-chaining capabilities. With this technology built in, you can expand and connect as needed with up to six units. Furthermore, OWC has designed the ThunderBay 6 to be rugged with aluminum construction as well as stable with a quiet fan for cooling and nonskid feet for reduced sliding on surfaces. Note: If using an optional NVMe M.2 drive with a 512-byte block size, macOS 10.13 or later is required. - Thunderbolt 3
- Thunderbolt 3 is a hardware interface that utilizes the reversible USB Type-C connector. Doubling the speed of its predecessor, Thunderbolt 3 features a maximum throughput of 40 Gb/s when used with compatible devices. The connector also transmits data via USB 3.1 at up to 10 Gb/s, and dual-bandwidth DisplayPort 1.2 allows you to connect up to two 4K displays simultaneously. Additionally, you can daisy-chain up to six devices from a single Thunderbolt 3 port.
- DisplayPort 1.2 Support
- Dual Thunderbolt ports let you connect the display of your choice that your computer can support, including 4K displays.
- Multi-Drive
- Link up to six Thunderbolt units together with Thunderbolt's daisy-chaining capabilities. Combined with SoftRAID technology, you can configure a storage solution tailored to your unique workflow. SoftRAID can create volumes that span multiple arrays or generate a nested RAID configuration for even greater performance and protection.
- Storage Pools
- The ThunderBay 6 Six-Bay Thunderbolt 3 RAID Enclosure is equipped with Windows Storage Spaces (available in Windows 10) and allows you to create storage pools and mirror or parity spaces based on the mix of data protection and performance you need. If you run low on capacity, just add more ThunderBay units to the storage pool.
- Durable Design
- The ThunderBay 6 Six-Bay Thunderbolt 3 RAID Enclosure features an aluminum build and slip-resistant feet, which help to ensure your ThunderBay 6 can undergo demanding use.
