Product description PHFX Tools philmColor R2 is a package of 178 creative 3D LUTs designed and optimized for RED's Image Processing Pipeline 2 (IPP2) and REDWideGamutRGB/Log3G10. They're based on motion picture film looks and all come in size 33x33x33. They can be used in-camera with any RED camera with IPP2 support, or in post on any .R3D file from any RED camera. The LUTs were created with support and contribution from RED.
A PDF manual is included with notes regarding the LUTs and a preview of each. Release 2 includes 75 new LUTs. Your purchase also provides you with free updates, as well as an upgrade to Release 3 when it comes out. - 75 baseStocks
- These include some looks based on film stocks, some based on modern film grading trends, some designed for specific situations, and some unique in their own ways. Release 2 includes a selection of new and bolder stylized looks, as well as new ones influenced by very recent films. The baseStocks meter accurately to 18% Gray in-camera unless otherwise stated in the manual.
- 30 ghostStocks
- The purpose of the ghostStocks is to serve more like color science. They are designed to slightly tune chroma and luma responses. They are far subtler than most of the baseStocks. The design goal with these was to provide different approaches to skin tones, and more subtle hues found in situations such as dusk. Many of these are reverse-engineered from motion picture and still film to provide a similar color response to your RED footage. The ghostStocks all meter accurately to 18% Gray in-camera.
- 20 printModels
- Release 2 features four main printModels with variations that add up to a total of 20 cubes. Each is loosely based on a filmlike print response. They come in a variety of strengths: pure, flat, flatter, punchy, and thin.
- 29 toneAdjusts
- The toneAdjusts are intended as tonal helpers, though you may find a couple of them pleasing in-camera (like the cineTone variants). Some are purely utilities. For example, there's a toneAdjust LUT specifically for pulling down your highlights. The toneAdjusts come in full, half, and quarter strengths. Release 2 includes new metal stocks that feature carefully crafted tone maps.
- 24 achromicStocks
- achromicStocks are new in Release 2. Achromic means "colorless" and that's exactly what these do; they remove color. The point is to create black and white looks from color RED footage. The achromicStocks tap into color channel information as well as luminance tone adjustments to create unique flavors of black and white.
