Product description The Rototron from Pigtronix is a rotary emulation pedal intended for use with guitars, keyboards, and other appropriate instruments with a 1/4" output section. Sporting a 100% analog signal path, it’s designed to recreate well-regarded Leslie cabinets such as the 122 and 147, and provides independent speed controls for both its slow and fast settings. A Slow / Fast footswitch sits at the bottom left of the pedal so that you may switch between the two at the tap of a toe. A Depth knob controls the level of the effect’s intensity, and the Ramp knob sets the rate at which the rotary effect accelerates or decelerates between the slow and fast settings, mimicking the behavior of a rotary speaker. The pedal gives you stereo inputs and outputs, enabling all sorts of connective possibilities, such as one guitar going to a mono destination point, one guitar going to two amplifiers (for a stereo effect), and stereo keyboards going to different mixer, PA, or amplifier channels. Please note, however, that when the pedal is engaged with stereo inputs, the rotary effect only processes input one; the other channel remains uneffected, which can be used to your benefit for blending clean tone with effected tone.If you use the two expression jacks with compatible expression pedals, you can control the rate of each emulated rotor independently of each other, speeding up the high rotor while the low stays the same, or vice versa. A jack for an optional momentary or latching switch is also provided, in case you want to use such a switch to create that awesome, pendulous effect that takes place when you order a rotary cabinet to “break”—i.e., decelerate to a full stop—a wonderful way to break the tension at an appropriate part of a song or jam. When this option is utilized, the Ramp knob controls the speed at which the break occurs. A power adapter is included with this pedal. - A Word About the Circuitry
- The Rototron utilizes a quadrature LFO to drive simultaneous frequency modulation, phase-shifting, tremolo, and bucket brigade based chorusing. These voices have been combined using a Linkwitz-Riley crossover design, which generates a three-dimensional acoustic character.
